as far as cyndy andrus goes at the pleasure to have her before the committee. she's an incredible leader of the state of montana and she has been on the city council of boseman since 2010 and served as mayor in -- and the fact is she's been a great leader for the boseman region which by the way is one of the highest fastest-growing areas in our state. she has worked in the tourism industry for over 25 years and we all know how important tourism is far great state of montana she also served on the border to years for the national league of cities and towns. she is also the past chair of the treasury counsel. as mayor i will visit with her about participating in this hearing. she pointed out it's incredibly complex and critical challenge in a rapidly growing boseman. as it is another areas across this country so to address this and other of the structure challenges it's important to hear from people like cyndy andrus another local officials on the ground about what's working and what isn't working. both of those are critically important but i look forward to this

cyndy, good to have you here. i very much appreciate your commitment to the cause on housing. senator -- from the bozman perspective, can you tell me number one, if you have done this i apologize, can you tell me what kind of shortage you have in bozeman? is there a number of units you are short on? if you could tell me that. then tell me what we can do at the federal level to address the affordability challenge? look, i have read some of the testimony. i have heard some folks have said here. i may get to pint where we ask that question is affordable housing even available. it's not in montana. i don't think montana is an outliar. i think it's this way all over the country. could you tell me what you're short in bozeman? and what federal program do you look at and say, you know what, that's doing good things for us. mayor andrus: thank you, senator tester. we over the last year have done a study to look at our housing inventory and we need approximately 6,000 homes to be constructed by 2030. at the pace we are going that's a lot of housing to provide. what i believe can help,
