we left vienna to go to czechoslovakia and whether we came to that border, the iron curtain was still down. they stopped our train. they brought out the dogs and all the security personnel with the rifles. and they were looking around and under the train and we were asked to get out of the train. one of the soldiers looking around so no one would see what he was doing came over to john glenn quickly and said, could you give me an autograph. we then went to prague and had a meeting with some government officials there. as we were walking up the street, someone came out of an apartment building with an encyclopedia and had it opened to john glenn's picture and said would you autograph over your picture. we focus on how important these astronauts are to us here in the united states. but keep in mind how important they have been to people all around the world a soviet soldier on a train going into czechoslovakia, a person of minimal status, i guess you would say in prague who wanted to be able to look at john glenn and say i have this picture. would you sign it for me? john glenn's prowes

so countries like poland, czechoslovakia, yugoslavia, many of which were called out in wilson's 14 points, his firms of peace he issued in january 1918 came into being after the versailles peace conference in 1914. as scholar, author of over 28 volumes, countless articles you see in the glass case towards the back of the room here, a collection of wilson's writings, along with his -- his library of books. there were 9,000 volumes here in the house. wilson had promised his collection of books to the library of congress, and after his death, the books moved over to the library of congress. his papers, also, were given to the library of congress. the last of our presidents in the jeffersonian tradition to give their library and papers to the library of congress. now our presidents have presidential libraries and museums operated by the national archives, or national park service unit. wilson house is a private nonprofit organization. we're operated by the national trust for historic preservation. mrs. wilson gave the house to the national trust in 1955, and lived here until her death in 1961

they did it in czechoslovakia. just take from the rich and give to the poor. that's not where americans want to go. personally, if you ask would i like to see the income belt flatten out a little bit? yes. but it's not in my power. i can't wish it so. and merely by mentioning it, as so many people do, they can't make it so. so when it comes to the question of what's going to happen, i'd much rather put up with money going to private hands than have the government take it as its private obligation to begin redistributing wealth in the country. i don't think that's where i want to go. i lived -- well, live in a period when there was good distribution of income according to the current statistics. the '60s. i can tell you this. i was no more happy, personally, less happy than i am now. the rich don't impress me -- the rich don't impress me today. i don't mind if they're rich or not. they don't impress me one bit. i have no envy towards theaism. i like their nice houses. i like what they do to in philanthropy. but, basically, it hasn't changed my life. the idea wo
