d.c.s preparing for the day. the's growg pains due to the fading of the melania population, combined with president trump's efforts to slash the federal workforce. a reporter joins us now. you said there is a painful transition going on, michelle, let's start with the hiring freeze that the president has implemented. how is that affected d.c. economy? >> it's a longer trend. we saw millennial's come in in droves after the recession. the d.c. economy is cyclical. when we have a bad national economy, workers tend to flock to d.c. as a haven for jobs because of the federal government share of the workforce here. what we are seeing last week was trumps will sing of the hiring band, freeze on hiring. he has reinstituted hiring but only at levels commensurate with a skinny budget that he proposed last month. we are seeing a lower level -- in the plans cap for hiring federal workforce. that will make d.c. less attractive to those coming here for those types of jobs. david: we think of d.c. is it
