one was a 1948 really good, gigantic american-made open car here in washington, d.c. in eastern side of this country, and then newly-made gorgeous convertible ford in san francisco. so i think i can claim to you that i did twice, both in eastern side as well as western side ride in open car to say hello to everybody in the course of the cherry blossom festivities. somewhere in there i went to ridge month to -- richmond to meet virginia's governor as well as the first lady. and i also went to fredericksburg, texas, for the rededication of the japanese peace garden at the national museum of the pacific war. i came back from d.c. just only two or three days ago, something i only just stay overnight there. but so i've been rather so busy going to see many people not inside beltway, but outside from west to east and texas. of course, this is absolutely united states of america. i've never been all the 50 states, but i am about to sooner or later. that's something i'm convinced of, important function on the part of the envoy from japan to the states. the point i'm leading u

we had some big weather go through washington, d.c.s reported and now we're watching storms over oklahoma and up through the ohio valley. we get the storms forming early in the evening and they die off about this time and then they'll regenerate this afternoon. and that's what's going to happen. they'll form out here by state college over west virginia and the southern tier of new york and then they're going to sweep towards the big cities. rush hour, isolated tornado with the strongest storms is a possibilities along with guaranteed damaging winds and also large hail. i do expect power outages of downed trees. the leaves are on the trees now and there will be issues in here in the northeast with these storms not to mention the fact that we'll have a lot of airport problems later on in the day. yesterday we were tracking that tropical disturbance. it's still spinning down here and it's going to slowly spin all this moisture into the southeast. already a rainy morning from jacksonville, florida. and eventually this mess goes all the way
