[laughter] at that moment i knew there were women who had not been talked to by anybody and if i didn't do it then who would? i knew i had to get out there to find these women and interview them i looked through other archives in charleston and i found more women and just called them up cold calling is very difficult but to answer the second question of how people responded, but segregation first were happy to talk to me. most of them had not been interviewed. i was honored and humbled to hear their stories. it was quite an experience name to go to their house to sit down at the table for two or three hours to tell me about their family and friends and what happened in the schools. it was difficult but only one person said i can't talk about that. it is too awful i cannot talk to you.
