d.c. delegate eleanor norton says there needs to be a better way to measure snow fall in the diic snow inch d.c. than at the airport. she wants it measured at an alternate site such as the white house, naval observatory. >>> if that happens, we could be talking about a monster snow storm. >> you know, doug had it right last year. he called it. he called the big blizzard we had. i'm hoping he isn't calling anything like that again. expectations about what so see for the year to come. >> we're both snow lovers. >> that is not scientific. >> it does play into it whether you want to admit it or not. we're rooting for snow although neither one of us really see the same sort of a set-up as last winter. last winter was actually warm and snowy which a lot of times doesn't seem all that complimentary to one another. january, with all of theow month was barely more than a degree colder than average. december was the warmest december on average and february was warmer than average. we ended up with way below average last year. sheer what doug is thinking for last year. we average 15 inches of snow a winter. at or slightly more than average amounts of snow expected for the whole winter, december, january, and february. unlike last year when we had our number one warmest december on cold air didn't get here until later on in the winter, we may start off with colder air in december. it will be the first december colder than average in quite awhile. what about today? today we're off to a mild start. 49 now. we'll stay in the 40s to near 50 for a couple of hours. up into the low and mid-60s for a brief time. it will turn windy this afternoon and it is going to be chilly for friday night football tonight. there is the cold front. there is the leading edge of a weekend around here. not a lot of moisture with it because of direction it is coming from. so you only really notice the front going by and increasing clouds this afternoon, once the front goes by, the winds will really pick up. future weather, that ribbon of cloud cover there, that is the front. it is expected to get into the washington area around 3:00 this afternoon and then move south of town for the friday evening plans. so that means it is going to be a very cold friday night and the weekend looks down right chilly as well. 30s tomorrow morning and only near 50 for a high on saturday afternoon. sunday, that is probably going to be the coldest morning. it will be sunday morning. the wind will be up early tomorrow. without much ach wind it will be bombs away on temperatures. could be in the mid-20s in most of the suburbs early sunday morning. redskins on sunday afternoon will be playing in sunshine. a little chance for a little rain coming up late in the day on monday. melissa mollet has
