you go from d.c. east. and it's five or six, seven degrees cooler because of the east and the southeast winds across the ocean cooling things off. all of that is more humidity to the air. the air is wet and will climb up the hills and the mountains we are seeing this activity. showers and the thunderstorms. heaviest batches to charlottesville. that will encroach on the richmond metro area tonight. some of the northern end of the showers and the storms will come in the metro area. part of it at 10:00, 11:00 midnight. so several batches of storms that pushed along by a weak cold front. that front will increase chances of the chae thunderstorms through the area tomorrow. take it to the future cast. through the mid-afternoon and evening more showers and the isolated thunderstorms in the area. most of saturday is muggy. then 30% chance of shower and storms by sunday. much higher probability of the showers and the storms. cold front coming in. potential for the heavy and the severe thunderstorms as a possibility w

west to east across 95, with lightning strikes picked up south and west in stafford county and fauquier county. this move will continue. the chance of severe weather will continue from areas near d.c. to points south and east. some locations north of d.c., montgomery county, howard county, you can stand down. the severe thunderstorm watch that had been in place has been dropped, but areas from d.c. to the south, you have warm air across the area. still holding into the 80's in many spots. manassas, 82. these warm temperatures could fuel a few more storms through the evening hours. after the sunset, we can all begin to stand down. from 95 -- across d.c., from 95 into southern maryland. some drier air will come in. another line of storms is over ohio, but that will diminish intensity. winds out of the south today, pushing moisture and humidity into the area. the good news, tonight and early tomorrow morning the winds will shift, coming out of the west tomorrow, meaning drier air coming in. it is setting up to be a fine forecast for your monday. we could get a few showers upper-levelht as an low comes spinning through the atmosphere tomorrow night, giving us a few showers in the nort

megan mcgrath is live this morning at east falls church with what d.c. s to do to help out. >> reporter: you can see the signs that are up here at the east falls church metro center warning people what is too come. p this is surge one getting under way, but of course this is just the beginning of a very long program. and there is going to be a lot of enconvenience, a lot of headaches, a lot of disruptions. so people just need to be prepared and to plan accordingly. now, in the district, they're doing a number of different things to make sure that they can letten the impact of all of this as much as possible. take a look. they will be expanding rush hour parking restrictions to keep as many lanes open during rush hour as possible to keep traffic moving. they will be enhancing the capital bikeshare program, special rates to encourage people to travel on two wheels instead of four. also expanding car pooling lanes. and there will be more traffic control officers at major intersections all in the hopes of keeping people moving. we've been talking to riders he
