d.c. is one step closer to getting a visit from pope francis. he wants to make a trip to the united states that would include a stop in the nation's capital. suzanne kennedy with reactions from local catholics. >> the pope telling reporters covering his trip to korea that he plans to visit philadelphia in september of 2015 with possible stops in washington d.c. and new york. >> father has met both prior popes. he says a visit by pope francis would likely touch people of many faiths. >> he's fantastic, especially because pope francis has such a carcinomharisma and command and outreach to the poor and needy. you can see his love in his face and eyes. >> the last time a pope was in washington d.c. was april of 2008, pope benedict visited catholic university and held map at nationals park. >> it was palpable. there's something special about it. you can argue different sides of your faith, but the holy spirit just felt like he was there. >> for the pope to come, it would wake up a lot of catholics here and show a lot of people in d.c. that there are more people of faith than they might t

. >> it is in this hotel in washington, d.c., where the deals will be signed between businessmen from the united states and those who have come here from africa, but also the big ceo's on the biggest american companies from coca-cola to general electric coming here to meet with 50 heads of the african state. the obama administration has insisted this is not a summit where it is about catching up with china or competing with china for a slice of the pie in terms of investment in africa. but there is quite a bit of catching up to do for the united states because the first of such summits between china and africa has already happened in 2008. this is the first one between the united states and africa. this is a summit that has been slightly or largely overshadowed, depending on your point of view, by the outbreak of ebola in western africa. for that reason, there are two heads of state who have not come to the summit. the president of sierra leone and liberia decided to take -- to stay in their respective countries to take care of the outbreak. there is one high-level meeting between the obama admi

d.c. have as a primary responsibility looking after people in the united states. when there is a spike like this overseas is there an alarm that goes off stateside? >> you want to be vigilant because with you know a person can get on a plane as that person who went to nigeria , the cdc with the health mechanism that we have here in the united states and globally will stay alert for the possibility that we might get a person here. the question that you just asked my colleagues on the line is that what we have here in the united states would be a system that would make it highly unlikely there would be the kind of explosive spread if we did happen to by accident get someone who flew over here when they were relatively well but got infected in the west african country, then came here and got ill and got infected where they would be really very sick. so you need the type of very careful protocol for person protective equipment to prevent that kind of spread. the other aspect going on there, and you mentioned the idea of people dying. one of the problems with ebola is
