virginia. maryland and d.c. have much to gun laws than those state of virginia. so how does that work when we are also interconnected? >> again the laws apply as we were just discussing for handguns in particular. you may not legal if you're president a resident of the district of columbia go to a neighboring state. we do see a pattern within the area regional and come of this something you can see more broadly across the united states. in states with less comprehensive measures for what i refer to as firearms seller accountability measures. but as a background check requirement. if there is no accountability measures, you can sell your guns and make a lot of money on the illicit market. when states have a few of those measures, they don't have comprehensive background checks. they don't have appropriate regulation and oversight of licensed dealers for example. pc, and trafficking channels from places that have weaker laws interfaces that have stronger laws. now that is something that clearly we could best address by stronger federal legislation the even though s

d.c. and attended school in virginia. he was a southerner. he then enrolled in the navy. he served as a doctor for 20 years before retiring and assembled what is an outstanding collection, one of its kind of confederate long arms, and by that i mean rifles, was it, shotguns, and carbines made in the south for confederate soldiers. his interest in the civil war, talking to his maternal grandfather and some great uncles, and the fact that his maternal grandfather was a confederate veteran, so i think that sparked his interest in the civil war. the centennial of the civil war in the 1960's was also a big celebration. around that time, 1950's and early 1960's, he started collecting artifacts and rifles, weapons from the civil war. the collection consists of approximately 200 pieces total. as i said, dr. murphy originally loaned the collection to the greensboro historical museum and it was his intention to give it to the museum on his death. it was willed to the museum in 2003 and now it's part of our permanent collection. we are starting with a piece that was made by tarpley.
