the only one that is not elected is christina white of mic dade county and is a -- of miami-dade countyho will complete her recount ahead of the deadline. blake: jeb bush said it's time for snipes to step aside or have the god suspend her. >> she clearly has shown herself to be incompetent and to have broken election law. reported ballots before they were supposed to be reported. left things off the ballot. she is clearly incompetent. i heard or saw a news report that she hadn't even begun her recount. miami-dade county, well over 50% done with their recount and broward hasn't even begun. blake: if she is incompetent and has a troubling history of violating election law, why did the governor feel comfortable with her overseeing his, and was there ever discussion of removing her beforehand. >> going forward nothing will be ruled out as far as consequences for these horrible, horrible elections she has done here in broward this year. leading into the election there were no indications for the 2018 general elections there would be problems. but she has shown herself to be clearly incompete

and then let's just come down to the biggest miami dade, 60%.ng there, and i just want to check as we look at this. let me pop out and check the statewide. a lot of this up here is going to fill in red. the question is, do you have the numbers to offset this and to offset tampa and we have nothing from orange county yet too. this should be democratic votes here in the race for senate. that's the senate race. bill nelson. >> almost half of the vote is in. he's ahead by 234,000. >> you're happy in a race you know is going to be very, very close, that's where you want to be. we've got a long way to go, especially out here. >> how's the governor's race looking? >> almost a mirror image. look at the senate race. 52.5% for the democratic candidate on top. over to the governor's race, 52.3%. these races are running, very different races, very different candidates but in a nationalized political environment, florida is voting that way tonight. so you see andrew gillum ahead, again, this is his base of support, he's the tallahassee mayor. running it up h

miami-dade county is large, high rates of poverty, very diverse. 22% hispanic. broward county, which is where i lived when i was in florida for 14 years is very ethnically diversed. its 29.9% african-american or black, 36.5% white non-hispanic, 3.9% asian american, 29.7% hispanic. brenda snipes who was the election supervisor and has been since i lived there has had a lot of issues in terms of getting the voting to work. we know that in very diverse counties often they don't have the same level of resources, great voting machines. its not clear why broward always has so much trouble. steve can tell you, broward county is typically the last county to count. its a huge county. its 1.9 million people. i don't know if its the size or if its something about the machines, but it is typically miami-dade and broward county, the most democratic counties and racially diverse counties and you do have to wonder whether the secretary of state's office in tallahassee needs to look at upgrading the voting systems in these heavily minority counties. the state is 100% run by rep

>> 25% of dade county has come in.roward, nearly half of broward, that's a good signf you're gillum that half of broward is in. that's -- sometimes you don't know if half is exactly double of what's the or if there's more there. in broward gillum has been over peorming there. palm beach almost all in. yes, he over performed clinton. no more vote there. heawachwa county -- get gainesville righ. it's sitting over my -- i think it's gainesville. maybe it's -- therwe go. alachawa, gainesville, university of florida, only 1% in. this could be a big gillum county. rying to do well in the universities here. that appears to be the raining vote. i'm not going to be here and sit here and call any race. it looks like there's more gillum vote than desantis. the governor's race and the na race is similar. >> what are you saying, chuck? >> i'm just saying it's flida. going to be decided by less than a percentage point. >> it's florida. >> i know. i kn. it's still florida. if you're wondering here, it looks like there's more gillum v

check in miami-dade county as well. we're getting again well over half the vote out of miami-dade county. you can see here this is a bit of a fall back so far from what clinton got in 2016. 64%. 59% from gillum right now. those are the big wons that come in. hillsborough as well. tampa coming in. gillum is up for the advantage there. look at the senate race. it looks pretty similar there. see if you get any different numbers. about the same out of miami-dade county. he's getting about the same out of brevard. if you look in hillsborough there. some kind of surge to get them back to trump levels. on the house side, one competitive race the democratic haves been targeting. starting to get returns here. vacancy. open seat i should say the republican incumbent is aside. decided not to run for re-election. two counties coming in here. hillsborough, half of the population. carries population by couple of points in the 2016. good news have gotten out ahead with half of the vote counted. probably when you look at the district,

it caused a miami-dade canvassing board to shut down the recount.the rest is history. the big question, can coarsy provide a key that unlocks a door? was roger stone pivotal in this election as a go-between between wikileaks and the trump campaign? this investigation needs to get to the bottom of that, because in many ways that's the biggest question of all. >> in all fairness, i've said this before, to the other individuals on the trump campaign and the president, if the facts that bob mueller finds is those things happened in an isolated way in a rogue way, they weren't fed back to the top of the campaign that would be good for those individuals. >> well, and the only way to get there is to get a case against roger stone. >> pivotal. >> he's pivotal, and he's telling everybody he thinks he's going to get indicted, he's going to get framed. >> you reserve the right to tell the anchor he's wrong, but maybe he's more than a little birdie. >> he's pretty good size fish. >> fish, not birdie. >> i like the fish. >> the controversy of roger stone, this g

. >> miami dade began their recount last night to try to keep up. what are we hearing from them today? >> reporter: the important thing is that some of these counties, it's going to be easier for them to recount than others because some of them are smaller. some of the bigger ones are miami dade, broward county we have been talking about and palm beach county that's a place of a lot of controversy between republicans and democrats. in miami dade the interesting thing is there was talk about this united states postal service facility that had some ballots in it. they said they got 266 ballots and those were not counted. they came in after the deadline. >> i hope you like the weather in florida. you may be there for a while. >> reporter: it's beautiful out here. >> let's bring in our panel. between 2000 and 2015 there's been 27 recounts in statewide elections. only three of which changed the final result. that's according to 538. any democrats concerned this might not be the right fight. >> the fact that the margin is so razor thin in a state that dem

what i would just tell you as we wait for this vote to trickle in in dade county, which will tell us a lot about this race, it's also going to help tell the story of florida governor and florida senate as we wait for more dade county vote to come in. this tells you it's early. >> has a trump factor emerged here? >> not so far i mean other than in turnout. you know, look, when you win or lose a race by less than 1% which is going to happen in the state of florida. if you want to blame trump, you can blame trump. if you want to credit trump, you can credit trump. rick scott has won both races by less than 1% and donald trump wasn't president. i can't sit here saying we're seeing a trump effect. >> two out of three voters said that trump was a factor in their voting and 26% say they were voting in favor of trump, 38% voting against trump. >> early yet. your tea leaves don't show a blowout for the democrats. >> no. >> good night, great night or disappointing night for democrats? >> there you go. >> let's go to morgan ratner. she's at headquarters for claire mccaskill. she is in the fight

miami dade finished. miami dade has far more voters than broward county. >> i think this cuts both ways. the republicans appear nervous. you don't have to be a political junkie to know that florida has problems with elections. what you're saying echoes some of what i heard. i spent time with the protesters. a lot of them were republican maga protesters. let's hear what they have to say. how many people are affiliated with or hoping the republicans win? what's your concern? what do you want to see happen inside? >> we just want justice. we want the truth. we don't want fraud. snipes has defied court ordinaryordinarers. we have 67 counties in florida. this is the highest democratic concentration here that we have the problem. >> my sign says systemic sabota sabotage. i think it goes a lot deeper. these people cannot be that incompetent. it's a smoke screen for cheating. >> do you think it's helpful or do you think he should stay out and let the florida process run its course? >> i think it's helpful. we nee

we may get somewhere closer to 900,000 out of miami-dade. if we use the two estimates and put gillum at the current rate he is getting, he may be able to get a 60,000 vote or so plurality out of these two counties. so, again, if you're down basically 90,000 votes statewide, that would eat into it. now in terms of the republican side, though, go up to the panhandle, and you can find a couple of places here. they're smaller, but they're places where desantis, bay county, desantis winning by better than a 2-1 margin. there is still vote to come in there. you can go to calhoun county. desantis is going to win this by a huge margin. still plenty of vote to come in there. democrats have big, densely populated areas with a lot of votes and gillum can make up lot of ground. but there are around the states precincts and big chunks of the smaller republican counties will be able to counter not all of that, but some of that. when he goes in 90,000 votes ahead, that's worth keeping in mind. also on the senate side, you can see the margin, 58,000 here fo

correspondent phil keating starts us off tonight from dade county florida. good evening. >> good evening. when election night ended in florida, it appeared florida had gone read in the key races for governor and governor and u.s. senate. suddenly two days later, there is now chance both could go blue. looks almost certain florida is headed to familiar territory, a mandatory recount. with florida's hotly contested senate and governor 's race is headed for an automatic recount, the miami-dade county canvassing board convene thursday afternoon to tabulate tuesday's election day numbers and count or discard provisional and late arriving mail-in ballots. the votes keep coming in and republican governor rick scott lead over bill nelson continue shrinking. scott leads by less than 18,000 votes. .22%. democrat lawyers are descending on florida, they've been very clear they aren't here to make sure every vote is counted, tweeted florida senator marco rubio. in florida, any race with a margin of half a percent or less goes to an automatic recount. florida's governor's

miami-dade county is one of the largest counties in the country. they got all of their ballots counted and reported in a timely fashion on tuesday night. orange county, where orlando is, millions of people. hillsboro county, where tampa is, millions of people. again, it's just a habitual problem with broward county, and, you know, we listed some of the problems we've seen in the past in our lawsuit today. you have allegations from a former employee of hers that in 2016, she caught employees filling out blank ballots by the stacks back in a secret locked room, and, i mean, this is really disturbing stuff, and then you look at this scenario, where again, we went to bed on tuesday night with a substantial lead, and it magically disappears over the last three days, just enough ballots to not only push our victory into a loss according to her tally, but also to push both the senate race and the governor's race into a recount. it just stinks to high heaven. again, another 2,100 ballots misplaced. we can't get a straight answer. the governor filed his law

miami-dade and broward finished fine. broward more than expected it to -- >> brenda snipes was on with us, we had better than expected turnout. >> even better reason to have started on saturday, right? why wait until monday night, then she finished today 15 minutes before the deadline, they come out and announce the results of the canvassing board, brenda says we can't believe we made it, three hours later, after she figures out that broward county had the largest gain for rick scott she comes back out and says, oh, we failed to get it in two minutes ahead of time. >> oh, you think she didn't make the deadline because it would have helped scott? >> well, all i'm going to say is that the person who filed the reports on saturday had no trouble uploading it to the secretary of state's website, by the way, that's his job, his job is to work with the secretary of state, and then we get to tonight, and suddenly, we have a problem uploading to the state's website, they're trying to give us the dog ate my homework excuse. the rea

in miami-dade, they're at 87%.just looking at this race, i know governor scott spoke with governor christie, a lot of panhand panhandle. nelson is overperforming in broward. he's underperforming in miami-dade. but he's doing well in orange county, orlando, in jacksonville. he's doing well right there. if i'm bill nelson right now, i'm watching that vote very closely in broward and miami-dade. if the numbers change, he could stay with his seat. >> for comparison's sake, how much of the vote is in in the panhandle? >> these are very tiny counties. these are some of the most republican counties. they only account for less than 1%. but 100% reporting in here, 81% reporting in here. 100% here. a lot of the panhandle is in from what we're looking at. south florida, broward, miami-dade, we need to look at those two counties all night. >> matthew? >> very close florida race in 2000. >> 2000. >> that went on for 31 days. on election night, keep in mind, on election night, with 98% of the vote in, we had a 50,000-vote lead.

miami-dade is more confusing.ange of 713,000 votes counted, there could be up to 900,000 votes that come out of this county. there's a lot of confusion here right now about where exactly that's going to land. so that could be the ceiling, 900,000. but it may end up being less than that. two big democratic areas still to come. they are balanced by two things, however, the scattering of rural counties, particularly in the panhandle where there are still votes to come in, not many, but overwhelmingly republican and also a couple of counties that have more population. let me start down here, collier county you can see still vote to come in here, still a significant amount, scott winning that one 2-1 if we take a look up here in charlotte county, still vote to come in here, scott leading that almost 2-1 up in the panhandle as well. so there are still places where republicans are going to balance out gains that democrats make in those core counties. again, right now, let's see if it's changed, it is now 60,000 votes for

. >> you have run for office in dade county before.ing to me, the three sort of best known republican members of congress here, one is retiring, and you have mario diaz bulard and carlos curbelo. for years, none of them got challenged. is the county changing, some of the politics changing all because of president trump? >> i haven't served in office. i did run in 2016, but i ran before trump got elected. the reason why i was running initially is because we have a lot of problems in this community. i do think that the demographics of miami-dade county are changing. we have a very diverse district, not just in mine, but also in my neighboring districts, 25 and 27. i think that people have been very frustrated with the way that washington politicians have been acting, including some of the other districts as well. but the excitement is there. i see it. i'm the only latina running for congress as a democrat in the entire state of florida, so there's a lot of excitement in my community. isn't that crazy? >> kind of surprising. >> i'm the on

miami dade 13 plus percent. broward county, a little over 9. here and here possible yes, but it's nail biting time right now in the nelson campaign. you're trying to figure out the turnout. palm beach, the other third, the most reliable democratic part of the state is 100% in. governor's race, desantis since the republicans took the lead has had a bigger lead. that's a significant jump from rick scott in the senate race in the race for governor. again, it's the same math. if you look up here, those votes are in. republicans winning as they have to. 90%. a little more for republicans to come in in the panhandle in the pensacola area. most of the others are in. you're looking down again. it's the same calculation. andrew gillum, 94%. he's winning big. not as populated. but an opportunity as you get close near the end for andrew gillum to pick up some. as we were talking about in the senate race, the big opportunity. i want to check on devalue. it's pretty much in. a few votes. the big basket is going to come down here again and the margins in the
