daley city, a big water main break and it's affecting traffic.rrington is in daley city with more on that. >> we are here on price street in this residential neighborhood. this is what people are waking up to. there was what police believe to be a break of a water main that's flooding the neighborhoods. i went up a couple of streets where we are and the water was practically covering the tires. so you can see there's a lot of mud and let's bring up video shot from a little bit earlier. we are on price street and lasane avenue in daley city. there are police and firefighters on scene. a lot of people going in and out of their homes trying to figure out what's going on. several blocks in this neighborhood are closed off while they try and clean all of this up. the pio did just arrive on scene. we're going to get more information from him and have an update very shortly. back to you. >>> we'll check back with you in just a bit. >>> the san mateo county district attorney plans to make a decision today on what steps to take after a judge threw out mur

. >> took the whole day, but a section of daley city has emerged from beneath a mountain of mud. it buried a neighborhood after a water main burst on a hillside above. linda yee shows us the mud may be gone but homeowners have serious concerns. >> reporter: they do. that river of mud swept down this hillside narrowly missing some homes. it did take out this car. work crews got the streets cleared by night fall. a wall of mud buried these streets. people were startled awake just before 4:30 when police ordered them out of their homes. somewhere we saw three feet high mud blocking the whole street. >> reporter: an 8-inch pipe connected to a water tank roup change-upped. 45,000-gallons of urticas caped down hill. carving a giant trench. sending a river of mud to streets. >> if the mud went the other way. >> reporter: no homes were damaged but people were helpless as they saw their cars swallowed up. >> please help us. >> reporter: city officials blame a cast iron pipe that was made in the 19 30s. a portion of it can be seen in this picture. >> you can see the pipe sheered off. we kn

we are looking ahead to more rain in the next 24 hours or so daley city people are assuring residents that their neighborhood is safe. on tuesday you will remember a water main break above the park released 98,000 gallons of the water from a reservoir, swamping the street and cars with mud. the public works crews say that workers that stabilize the hillside and don't expect problems. they say they will monitor the situation all weekend just in case. >>> earlier our news crew got shots of heavy rain happening in the south bay. one runner was not letting the downpour get in the way of her workout. for a look at the conditions right now, we go to mark tamayo in the weather center, mark? >> reporter: for the past couple of days we have been talking about a couple of storms, some areas not picking up much rain but it has not picked up in a few other areas. here is a live look. notice, san francisco covered right now with the darker shades of green, indicating moderate downpours, shifting the maps out to the pacific. you will notice the more activity. here we go. more rain, around the area.
