"today in the bay's" michelle roberts joins us live from refugio state beach, one of two beaches remains closed this morning and could stay closed for quite some time. >> reporter: that's right. this beach and el capitan beach will be closed until at least next thursday. the goal is just to allow crews the opportunity to clean up and is probably not somewhere you want to spend your holiday vacation anyway. the smell is so intense. this is what clean-up crews are dealing with. you can see the rocks just completely covered in black. they've been scooping up dark seaweed washing up onshore as well. heartbreaking

there are two crashed vehicles and a diesel as well in daly city.riving a dump truck, hit a pole, he was injured and is in the hospital now and will soon be in jail. now, on the other side of the road, you can see a minivan. he also hit that minivan with the dump truck and injured three people. it all started just after midnight about 5 miles away from here in colma. an officer saw the dump truck driving through a housing complex. >> it was after 12:00. it was late. and it was suspicious to the officer so he decided to run the plate. >> reporter: yeah. he found out that truck was then stolen out of san francisco. so he tried to stop the dump truck and he said it tried to ram his patrol car so the chase was on ending here in daly city. there were three people in the minivan. again, they were all taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. they are expected to be okay. the diesel spill you can see them cleaning it up here behind me. they are using sand to try to soak up some of that oil before they are able to open the roads. so it could be

these are equipment problems causing delays along the daly city line in all directions of about 5 tos. the shutdown for the bart station is planned for 7:30 this morning by protestors. in about two hours you could hit delays. we'll cover it all. here's the bay bridge toll plaza. you know, no reports of any metering lights yet but we are just beginning to see a few backups in the middle fastrak lanes which is sometimes an indicator that they are on. it's still earlier but yesterday they switched them on at 5:35 right about now. so you never know. the rest of the lanes are backed up to about the middle of the parking lot. and westbound 580 looks like it's getting more and more crowded out there. so, yeah, it's still "friday light." the drive time is still better than usual. but not by a whole lot. it's 19 minutes right now from the altamont pass and 680. so there are breaks in some of the slowdowns but you can see the bulk of traffic is now from the 205/580 split all the way straight through the livermore valley. that is "kcbs traffic." back to you guys. >> all right. thank you, elizab

this started in tacoma and ended in daly city. jackie is live in an update. >> reporter: good morning. i am here in daly city, and this is where that accident ultimately ended up after that strange pursuit with a stolen dump truck through multiple cities in the bay area. according to the police, this all started shortly after midnight when a patrol officer on a normal patrol spotted this dump truck in a residential area, thought it looked suspicious. he ran the plate, and they came back as stolen. at that point, he initiated a traffic stop, but the truck driver actually attempted to ram the vehicle of the patrol officer and flea. then the pursuit was on. it went through south san francisco and all -- ended up in daly city. while attempted to flee, he sideswiped and plowed into the side of a minivan with three people inside. he careened off of that and ultimately slammed into a pole on san jose ave. and attempted to flee on foot. then he was taken into custody relatively quickly. as far as the three people inside of the minivan, al
