reporter andrea lucia from our dallas station kttv was in granbury. we understand there was an update. >> reporter: we got information from hood county the sheriff has been keeping numbers overnight. the important number, of course, six people have died. that number has stayed kint the last few hours. we also know, though, 14 people remain unaccountled for. all of these victims are from the same neighborhood rancho brazo, the area that took the hardest hit last night. emergency responders were able to evacuate 13 people from that community. others were bussed out. we have not been allowed in that area. tonight, we have been speaking to people as they make their way out. many told us they felt lucky to be alive after watching their homes get blown away. >> i actually survived. i'm still standing. we have no back wall. we have no windows. half of our roof is gone. our vehicles are smashed. we have two huge oak trees and they're gone. >> reporter: according to sheriff, that neighborhood has about 110 homes in it and he says the majority of them have been

and thank you to the dallas historical society for all you do to preserve our great history of this area, but really the state. you have archives and memorabilia that no, nobody else has anywhere in texas, and i thank you for being such a strong organization that really is into preserving our history. i, my book is about the spirit of texas really and the spirit of the pioneers who built our state, and it's much like the people who built our country. but i wanted to write about the women's role. now, i have written two other books about the women who broke barriers in our country in sports, in aviation, in politics, in medicine, in the first nobel prize winner in science. and i wrote these books because we have a great chronicle of the great men who built our country and built our state, but it's been very hard to find the information on the women. and without the women of texas, we wouldn't have had that great, e bull credibility excitement and spirit that we do have in texas. and i had, you know, i grew up in texas, a fifth generation, and i just thought everybody was like us. look at dallas right now. about to get just downpoured on as those storms continue to move eastward. the heavy storms continue into eastern oklahoma and moving through central arkansas right now as well. it's all out ahead of this cold front, and the problem with the situation we're in right now is it's a very slow-moving cold front. so we've had flood watches and warnings in effect, in addition to the severe weather because the storms are really going nowhere fast. and you can see that we do have those tornado watches now stretching into northwestern louisiana, into southwestern arkansas. the yellow boxes that aren't shaded in indicate severe thunderstorm watches, and a watch means that conditions are favorable for either a thunderstorm or a tornado to occur. the filled in boxes, that's right over dallas, those are your severe thunderstorm warnings. a warning means that severe thunderstorm is occurring at this time. we could see wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. those would be straight-line wind gusts. as s

and in dallas, that goes until 7:00.n see this moves farther to the east with that threat until 10:00. this does include shreveport, also texarkana. then a chance for some tornadoes also in northern mississippi, parts of western tennessee. and that does include memphis. until 10:00. parts of southeastern oklahoma, severe thunderstorm watch still in effect until 7:00. so now is a look at where the storms are right now. and you can see here in dallas, there's this line. once this gets through, that threat for tornadoes will diminish in a hurry. it will diminish in a big way because cooler air will move in. these green outlined areas is a threat for flash flooding. getting clearing out here in oklahoma city. that's good news for the rescue and recovery efforts going on there in moore. meanwhile, seeing more of the storms firing right now in little rock. putting on the lightning now, regardless of whether or not we get damaging winds or tornadoes, there is a lot of lightning associated with these storms. so that is a big dan

the storms will be rolling through nearest to dallas-fort worth. and the national weather service is saying a 30% chance that we'll have a strong tornado today, in that watch box area. could be over the rural farmlands, or it could head over towards the city like we saw yesterday. so here's the risk area. the area of yellow, slight risk. the area of red, that's what we call the moderate risk of severe weather. we had that yesterday, where we got the huge tornado. so that's the potential if you're in this region and that includes nine and a half million people, a majority of them in the dallas-fort worth area. but texarkana, shreveport. tyler, paris, waco, eye to the skies. tornado watch issued, but no tornado warnings, no development yet. we're still two to three hours from that. >> i want to open it up to our folks here. you have been covering extraordinary news stories for a very long time and we have some actually archival fattage of you in galveston, texas back in the 1960s. it was reported in your book, your biography. you were one of the firs

a dallas woman called 911 on the day she was allegedly killed by her ex-husband.espite hearing her screams for help over the phone it took nearly an hour for police to arrive.
