area man left her three-year-old son to watch a puppet show at at the library we she went home in daly city much the woman said she went home to make sure the stove was off and to eat lunch. her arraignment is slated if next month. >> we have learned that the city of richmond plans to file a lawsuit against chevron this morning. the institute is asking if damages for the clean up and emergency response to the fire at the richmond refinery last august. more than 15,000 residents went to the hospital after a pipe exploded sending a blanket of smoke over the city and beyond. in a statement, chevron said they could not comment on the lawsuit but did say that we believe the decision to pursue such a suit is a wait of the city resources and another example of the failed leadership. >> whole foods is planning to open new stores in dublin and walnut creek as part of an expansion in the east bay. the new dublin store is located in a new shopping center to be. on vacant land the first whole food store in dublin. walnut creek gets the second whole food store near oakland grove road with 175 jobs

[applause] >> supervisors i am chris daly and political director of seiu 10 to one. i am here to support community based service providers and the workers providing these most critical front line services in a plea -- in a plea for a bit more dignity in their critical work. we're asking this committee to include a 4% cost of doing business, increasing the budget, and we think that this ask is justified. for just a bit of perspective since i last served on this committee backed in 2007 the san francisco budget has increased by more than 25%. the cost of living in san francisco has gone up 12%. pay for nonprofit workers is 1.9% that you guys were a part of last year. this increase has brought an average seiu nonprofit worker which is higher than the average to just under $40,000 per year. for a little bit of perspective for a single family household that is 55% of the median income and obviously for a family for two, three, four it's much less than that. with this budget the dollars are there and we created this menu of possible places to find that money that would fun

daly city has a huge influx of immigrants especially from the philippines. about the community? are there certain challenges? >> it's the most population in the country and i'm proud to be part of that community. we deal with political issues that affect the asian-american community. you see more influx of support and engagement from the asian community, especially the filipino community. we recently elected a filipino to legislature which a huge moment in the community to gain interest but also get more supporters and be a role model to those that want to get more involved in issues. >> kristen: and the engagement is one of big issues to really get the word out and raise awareness on domestic violence.g really helping remove the sigma that sometimes -- stigma. talk about that. >> in the asian culture, especially in the filipino culture we don't talk about family issues, it's considered a family issue some of the stigmas and challenges we want to overcome, it's not your fault. some families will disown their child because they feel like they did something to
