katie utehs is live in daly city. she just spoke with the ambulance company. us they've had this problem before. >> reporter: good morning. the spokesperson with american medical response tells me that they've had ambulances stolen from their company lots before. but what happened last night is a little different. i'm told that the paramedics left the flood lights running on the ambulance to illuminate the walkway to the house where they were responding and they had to leave the ambulance running to do so. in that time, there were firefighters on scene as well as police officers but a thief made a bold move and hopped in the vehicle. lit me show you -- let me show you video from overnight. the call came in around 12:15. you can see the stretcher but the ambulance is not where the paramedics parked it. a person experienced blood sugar problems related to diabetes and the paramedics did not need to transport the person but when they stepped outside the home a short while later, they discovered that's the ambulance was nowhere they parked it. the police say the t
