. >>> we have breaking news out of daly city. a fatal accident has shut down part of 280 northbound. we mentioned this at the top of the show. elizabeth wenger is there with the very latest. elizabeth. >> reporter: yeah. good morning, grace. that's right. they got a pretty large area completely blocked off. we are in daly city northbound 280 ramp to 19th avenue. again, a very popular spot for commuters. as you can see, they have the flares out there right now. this is what sounds like a two- car crash. it just came in around 4:00. major injuries involved in the crash. we are told there is a body apparently lying in the road. so of we have an estimated time of opening this ramp close to 5:00 so again so this could be shut down for a little while longer. as an alternate, if you are coming up northbound 280 and trying to get into the city, use the junipero serra or san jose avenue off-ramps as your alternates. as you can see, the roads are slick. there's a misty drizzle going on right now. so obviously, slick surfaces could be cause

this is near a freeway ramp in daly city. that's where we find elizabeth wenger live with the very latest. good morning, elizabeth. >> reporter: good morning. that's right. this is the a major off-ramp. right here on northbound 280 in daly city, right where it connects 19th avenue. this is a confirmed fatal accident. investigators have been out here since 3:00. that off-ramp from northbound 280 to 19th avenue is completely shut down. maybe you can see cars going by okay so there are no big backups with this right now and you can continue using northbound 280 to head up into san francisco towards 101. it's that 19th avenue off-ramp that's flared off. it came in as a car versus pedestrian earlier. earlier a chp on scene told us this was a possible crime scene but right now it sounds like it was a pedestrian in the road and that's what happened. that's what caused this fatal accident. they gave us an initial opening time of 5 a.m. for when they could hopefully get that off-ramp open but as you can see, it's still closed. i talk

jade. >> reporter: claudine, we can tell you this morning that authorities are worried for daly city residents. that's because the california man may have ties to this city and to the bay area where he may be hiding from the law. the f.b.i.'s accusing this man, 55-year-old marshal goldberg of kidnapping his 85-year-old mother from oregon in may. authorities have a federal fugitive warrant out for goldberg. he's described as a white man about 5'9" weighing between 160 and 165 pounds. he has brown hair and blue eyes and may also be wearing glasses. we understand goldberg's mother was living with her other son in oregon at the time of the abduction. the reason why authorities are concerned 85-year-old doris goldberg suffers from dementia and alzheimer's and cannot take care of herself. she's described as a white woman about 5'1" weighing about 135 pounds with white hair and blue eyes. there's no word on why doris' son would take his mother from her oregon home where she had been living. but the f.b.i. believes right now the younger goldberg may be driving a 1996 gold oldsmobile four door

we've moved to the daly city bart station.he chp removed the accident from the area of the highway that was causing the disruption. so we had to move off the highway as well. happened around 3:00 a.m. this morning. that's when the chp says it got a call from a motorist that there was a pedestrian on the roadway. the next call they got was that the pedestrian was down in the roadway when chp showed up on the scene the person had already died. no id available. chp was calling it a crime scene for a little while. that is because the pedestrian had died in the traffic accident. i spoke to chp officer over the phone he told me that sometimes when they have a fatality on the highway and they're calling it crime scene it may be because there's a driver who's under the influence. none of that's been worked out just yet. they issued a cig alert but that's all over by now. they were diverting traffic from 280 northbound to 280 southbound rather it will 0 northbound and 280 southbound and closed the 19th avenue exit. that is now open. it
