damian trujillo joins us. a lot of concerned reidents over there. >> reporter: they finally got their water at about 4:00, 4:30. this is the source of the water main break at the foxdale apartments. this situation set in yesterday for many of these residents, and it led them to tap into water that they're not supposed to be drinking. the water main at foxdale apartments broke saturday. the first attempt to repair it failed, leaving all 287 units here without water. you got a hotel? >> we got a hotel now. >> reporter: daisy nava says residents started getting desperate because they need water for just about everything. she, too, took her family to a motel so they could shower. others tapped into this emergency sprinkler pipe to fill jugs and buckets, but the fire department tells me that water is not safe to drink and can cause the emergency sprinkler system to fail. i informed the manager who told me she's going to warn continue. s they may have drank unsafe water. >> i wash my dishes. i put water to brush my

damian trujillo. nbc bay area news. >>> uc students are looking at paying more for their education over the next several years. the uc regents approved a form l.a. they now pay around $14,000 in tuition and fees. starting in the fall of 2022, tuition will increase by 2%, plus inflation for incoming students. that's an extra $534 for next year's class. in the following year, the hike is eventually be phased out. students would be able to lock in their tuition for six years. it is the first tuition hike since 2017. >>> okay. it is official. the south bay will be home to a farm fresh living experiment. county leaders approved the agrihood project yesterday. they gathered the developers on the saint claira site that will be opposite the valley fair mall. they're very proud of this. it is an unusual concept. it is a combination of urban farms and housing and it could be the first of its kind in the state. there will be 165 units and it will house mostly low income seniors and veterans. there will be a gard
