damian trujillo is in downtown palo alto with the latest. >> reporter: not everyone is for the parklets. some non-restaurants are telling the city council that this is actually hurting business. even on a rainy day like today, you'll find people enjoying outdoor dining, thanks to the parklets that cities allowed across the state. lifesavers, is what some restaurants called it during the pandemic. >> big time, big time. yeah. helped us out a lot. >> reporter: ricky fleming says there's no telling what would have happened to this restaurant in downtown palo alto. >> they were total adrenaline. they really helped us get through covid. >> reporter: in fact the parklet is so popular at this cafe it extends out in front of the business next door, and therein lies the controversy. businesses complain it's hurting their business. business owners will need permission from next door merchants if their parklets extend out in front of their stores, and she says her neighbor already said no, so she'll have to scale back her parklet. >> outdoor dining is here to stay. any progressive city has it. >>

i'm damian trujillo. they're back. the wreaths across america. we begin today with the make-a-wish foundation. they're on every year about this time of the season and with me this time are my guests, joining us here on the show. folks, how are you today? >> all right. good. we are very good. >> all right. well, tell us about your son andre. >> well, andre was diagnosed with leukemia. we became volunteers because we hear about this foundation make-a-wish and his wish was to go to disney world. and his wish came true. yeah. and he was happy, excited, and he said oh, this one looks like a balloon. >> we're looking at pictures right now of andre, some images. tell us about the family reaction. how difficult that must have been when your child was first diagnosed with something like this. >> yeah. it was pretty hard that day. you know, we took him to the emergency room and they not tell us nothing about and so they decided to send him to san francisco. they found he had leukemia. it was pretty hard for us when they told us he has to be on treatment an
