damian trujillo first broke the news on twitter this morning. undersheriff ring sung's lawyer says he found out last night that his client is now facing formal criminal charges. three people have already pleaded guilty and are cooperating with investigators. in the donations for guns permit case, a sheriff's captain and a prominent san jose attorney have also been indicted. suing the department's second highest ranking officer has also been put on administrative leave. in a statement, the sheriff confirmed the indictment, said her department is committed to maintaining the highest level of public trust and that public safety remains her highest priority. sheriff laurie smith has not been accused of any wrongdoing. coming up tonight at 6:00, we'll hear from a retired lieutenant in the sheriff's office, who says he's not surprised by these indictments. >>> up next, one of the south bay's largest reservoirs is almost empty. it's part of a crucial project to make the area and the community safer. we'll take you there. >>> plus more people turning to
