damian trujillo is live with more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. that plane landed at 2:00 this morning here at sfo but not before american airlines flight 1755 ran into some passenger turbulence, dealing with a drunk passenger at miami international, one witness took pictures. that's when passenger two jumped in and said his friend wasn't drunk but on medication. this happened about 9:00 eastern time last night. witnesses say the second passenger then lunged at the captain and punched him. there was a scuffle and others jumped in to help. police arrested both passengers. the whole thing could have been avoided. >> they refused to leave the plane. they couldn't communicate, it was spanish but the people running the plane didn't understand them. and the captain said i'm calling the police. the guy just lost it. the guy that was ill just walked right up to the captain and just went powe and slapped him really hard. the captain was stunned. so was everybody on the plane. >> other passengers jumped in while crew members tried to bring the situation und

we have damian trujillo live in larkspur to explain it all.ood morning. >> reporter: good morning. lots of confused looks here. here is the latest ferry that is leaving now going around san quentin. this one behind me is about to leave. quite a few confused looks and headaches in larkspur. the union for the ticket takers issued a press release calling for a one-day strike. they didn't issue a second release saying the strike was called off. the golden gate service was ready. here is the first ferry that motored out of here at 5:50. not many passenger, most got word yesterday there would be no service because of the strike. the transit agency organized a bus bridge. this morning called that off. confusion but commuters will not have service interrupted today. >> because we weren't told by the inland boat man's union they were going to strike so. a little disconnect there. and it's really an inconvene yengs for the customer t bottom line. we're running service and will be back at the table as we have been with the inland boat man's union and see

damian trujillo live in santa clara with more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura. one minute they are going at it alone. the next minute we find jed york and 49ers have been meeting with the raiders about a possible shared stadium across the street from 49ers headquarters. both teams conceded last night at a league function that they have been having talks about sharing a new stadium. that's something that the nfl would like to see. the nfl is where a lot of the money will come from for stadium financing. the niners and raiders play in the oldest stadiums in the league. the proposed project would cost roughly $1 billion. it sounds like a better sales pitch for the league if two teams will be sharing that cost. in tweets i received overnight, it looks as if the stadium project in santa clara will be ready for kickoff by 2015. that could mean 16 games played per year in the parking lot of great america instead of eight games. there's still opposition in santa clara, mainly people who don't want any public funds used for the project. some of the funding is expected to

today in the bay's damian trujillo is live in larkspur with the impacts. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this ferry will be here for the rest of the day. you mentioned those ticket agents, they are on their one-day strike, their contract expired at midnight and they are unhappy over the contract negotiations so they are holding a one-day strike. that means there will be no ferry service as you mentioned, into san francisco from saw is a lee ta or from the larks spur ferry station. it lasts until 10:00 p.m. so the weekend ferry service will resume tomorrow, saturday. but for commuters today the golden gate bus service is adding several buses here and in saucesalito to get the golden ge transit service says it has had good faith negotiations with the union so they are surprised by today's action. we did witness the interaction between one of the workers with the transit service and with a commuter. he asked if he got in the city via the bus service if that bus service was going to bring him back, the worker told him that's a good question, we don't

nbc bay area's david trujillo is live with the consequences of those layoffs. damian? >> reporter: not only are we talking about fewer officer on the street but these officers were especially trained to deal with people who are bipolar or schizophrenic. that has many observers concerned. when they turned in their badges a week ago, these 66 san jose police officers also handed over a unique and valuable skill. they were member of the crisis intervention team, or cit. they're especially trained to deal with people with mental illness. now that asset is gone. >> it is of great concern. >> reporter: richard was instrumental in getting the last three police academy cadets trained in crisis intervention after several deadly officer involved shootings, involving people with mental illness, including daniel in 2009. >> the sad and tragic result is somebody eds up dead and it is usually the person with mental health illness. >> reporter: last week's layoffs cut the officers on the force by lnl one-third. from 234 to 168 today. in 2010, san jose police responded to 1893 calls i
