live in downtown san jose, damian trujillo. >> active scene in san jose. another overnight raid on occupy protesters, this time on the cal campus. two people were arrested in what police describe as a mostly peaceful and orderly event. about 100 officers were on hand for the raid, which started about 3:30 this morning. crews cleared out most of the leftover debris within a few hours. protesters are gathering again tonight oorn the cal campus. ahead of a general assembly meeting which starts in about one hour from now. >>> protest the increase in tuition, now faculty members are protesting no increase in their salary. hundreds of faculty members in heyward and other campuses took part in a one-day strike. they're upset about the chancellor's refusal to pay negotiated raises they were supposed to receive between 2008 and 2010. the paychecks of administrators continue to rise, and teachers and students are the ones that are suffering. >> we're taking the long view. students may lose class for one day, but in the long run, we're trying to save their education.

nbc bay area's damian trujillo is live at page mill road where engineers are doing the testing. damian, this is not just any pipe we're talking about. >> reporter: no. this is one of the main transition lines through the peninsula, jessica. those workers are going to be working through the night behind me to make sure they do spot this leak and they make those repairs. again, we have to emphasize that we're using water pressure to test the pipe and its water leak that they detected so they now have to go back in and make those repairs. this is the crew that spotted the leak from their test site on page mill road in palo alto. they noticed there was an overnight drop in water pressure during their test. >> this morning we confirmed that this drop in pressure was due to a small pinhole leak in the line, about a millimeter in diameter. >> reporter: pg&e says the hole wasn't there before. it was the elevated pressure testing that caused the problem. they hope to find the exact location of the leak by saturday. >> we'll excavate that area, make repairs, and then retest the pipe. >> re

we're live in san jose, damian trujillo, nbc bay area news. >> a life sentence for the valeo teenager accused in last year's hoe-profile shooting of an ice cream truck driver. they were stunned by the violent act that nearly took the life of a mother of three last year. surveillance video helped lead police to the gunman who was then 13 years old, peter montenegro. he's 17 now and pled guilty to a charge of will fful attempt at murder. how did an elderly man out for an evening walk with his grandchild end up dead? police are hoping that you know. the two were hit around 6:30 friday night on teal drive in santa claara. police say a woman driving a chevy van crashed into the man and his 2-year-old grandchild when they were near an elementary school. the grandfather died. the 2-year-old was injured. the driver has not been charged, but now police want to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened or tell them -- or can tell them where the pedestrians were when they were hit by the car. >> san francisco police officers, along with good mayor tans charged into an inferno early this m
