damian trujillo is live in milpitas with why this crash scene may turn into a crime scene very soon. dami damian, good morning. >> reporter: they are still investigating. two lanes ever 680 here south of scott creek road remain closed. we're hearing about 6:00 is when they might even begin to reopen it. here is what happened. construction crew was picking up construction signs here, they were doing emergency road repairs. the chp says a silver nissan veered off the road and pinned the worker against his truck. that worker unfortunately died here at the scene. another construction worker was moderately injured. he is at the hospital as well. the driver of that nissan had to be extricated from his car. he is facing life threatening injuries at local hospital. here's why police say this might turn into a crime scene. >> at this point we're going to try to determine the reason for the

damian trujillo is live at the scene with new video of that rescue.ood morning. >> it was a dramatic rescue off highway 92 near skyline boulevard. i got off the phone, they tell me that things wrapped up about an hour ago on 92 but not before this dramatic rescue got caught by cameras a. car slid off the road and fell roughly 500 feet below. crews arrived with a helicopter and air lifted three passengers up to safety one by one. one of the people in the car as you mentioned was apparently able to climb up to the mountainside and call for help. the victims suffered broken bones but nothing major. they were transported to sf general and are expected to be okay. they are investigating the cause, why did the car go down the cliff? when the rescue went on 92 remained closed for four hours. truckers waiting to deliver goods to the coast and on the other side the same thing as well. the car will remain down there about 500 feet below the cliff until they are able to get some sort of mechanism to pull the car up to the roadway. >> what a rescue there. thank y

damian trujillo, "today in the bay." >> 6:02. a thanksgiving shooting has police in the south bay looking for a gunman, near downtown. they say a man and a woman were shot just a few hours ago and the shooting appears to be random. bob is live with new details. >> reporter: good morning. this shooting took place here near the intersection of state and sutter in front of that white house where a mother and son live. we went to try to speak with hem off camera. they indicated they brought the young man or woman inside to tend to them. that's the only comment. it's not clear what relationship they may or may not have with people that were shot. one drove, the other walked up outside that white house, and was out of -- without any dialogue they began firing. a witness told us she heard five shots. several of those struck the man and one apparently ricochetted into the woman's foot. the man and woman are expected to survive. the one did run off, the other drove. no description as of yet. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> investigator

we're live on the campus of san jose state, i'm damian trujillo, nbc news. >>> now to some developing weather news. the rain is gone but the win has arrived. this is in fremont. let's bring in chief meteorologist jeff ranieri here now with what we can expect tonight, jeff. >> that wind advisory now in effect all the way through friday morning. hills above 1,000 feet could see winds top 70 miles per hour. what i want to take you to is the east bay, some of these highly commuted corridors here, 580 and 680 under that wind advisory until friday morning as well. also for the north bay, anyone living here will be impacted by these winds that could gust as high as 40 miles per hour. you can see in santa rosa, petaluma, napa, sonoma as well. the other thing we want to get to is not only is it gusty out here but temperatures dropping into the 50s at this hour, so it is in fact giving us something a little bit rare here for the bay area, some windchill just because that air aloft is so cold, even if it's windy out here, it creates friction and helps warm up the air. that cold air aloft is winn
