damian trujillo was in the court today when the brothers came in. damian joins us live with the latest. >> reporter: these court documents are really troubling. they describe two brothers who appear to know what they were doing when they allegedly killed their parents and then wrote about it on the walls of their home. the older brother wore the yellow jumpsuit reserved for inmates in the jail's mental ward. the older brother was kept in the hallway away from the cameras. >> they were murdered inside their home by their two sons on saturday, april 23rd. >> reporter: the murders made national headlines. >> he was shot more than a dozen times. the other once in the head. >> court documents say that his stranger assaulted him in his home and ordered him to kill. in a separate interrogation, the 17 year old told police he was home when both parents were killed. police aren't sure why. >> there's some unanswered questions to this case. the police are working diligently to answer those questions and because of that it would be inappropriate for me to comme

nbc bay area's damian trujillo is live outside the main jail in san jose where damian it sounds like petrov could be headed once he's wrapped up the other issues in san francisco. >> reporter: because petrov was on probation here out of santa clara county when he was arrested in san francisco. but this newly unsealed federal indictment reveals a lot about petrov's criminal history, one that could jeopardize his claim that he was really beaten by these officers in alameda county that was in fact excessive force. the beating in a san francisco al alley in november grabbed headlines. stanislav petrov filed a civil lawsuit against alameda county. they raided his apartment last friday. documents show they found guns and drugs. >> he has made a complete mess out of his civil rights case. >> reporter: we showed this attorney the indictment against petrov. among other things it reveals a long history of crimes in four counties, including 43 felony charges. clark says that hurts his claims again the deputies. >> he no longer will be able to testify in his own be half in his case because he wi

. >> damian trujillo is outside the courtroom today with more. damian, this has been delayed several times. >> reporter: it has. in fact, today again, the suspect reiterated in open court that he wants this trial to start now. but his defense attorneys say they simply are not ready here at the hall of justice in san jose. torres wore his customary tan suit into department 24 today. the defense says prosecutors are going to retest a piece of evidence and that will take time. so the judge granted yet another delay in the start of this trial. but in the words of torres's attorney, he said the defendant wants to start the trial "forthwith." he is accused of kidnapping and killing sierra lamar back in 2012. her body has not been found, but dna evidence links clothing to sierra lamar to where she disappeared. judge vanessa zekker is in department 50 and that's where all future proceedings will take place. she comes from a family law background. a judge who is very bright and hard working. volunteers who are inside the courtroom today reiterated that the
