our damian trujillo broke the news this afternoon on twitter.we sent alyssa goard to the campus as soon as we found out this information. alyssa joins us now. can you tell us how this went down? >> reporter: janelle, what we know came from what san jose police first said, which was that they came onto campus after hearing a report of a student with a gun on campus. they said that they did arrest a juvenile. i saw a young person, a minor here on the campus, and they did find a loaded gun here as well. the school did also send out a message to parents but it didn't mention a gun, it only mentioned an incident with students here on campus. we spoke with students as they were getting let out of school about an hour ago, and they said that they saw a group of police officers coming onto the campus, entering a classroom in a large group, and bringing out a student with them. most of the students really didn't know about what was going on during the day. in fact, most of them said their teachers hadn't brought it up, they hadn't got any type of communi

"today in the bay's" damian trujillo is in san jose with the return of the bees. >> reporter: the laste we saw this huge increase in the bee population was back in 2017. that's also the last year we had a huge amount of torrential rains across the state. >> it's the sound of thousands of bees in a tree. >> reporter: this huge bee swarm flew into a backyard in the east san jose foothills. the homeowner didn't want to be identified but says he's never seen anything like it. >> basically saw a big, huge ball of bees that was probably, i don't know, 30 feet high and it was slowly moving across the ground. >> reporter: and it's been happening a lot in the bay area. >> those are all future queens. >> reporter: tim dauber is a bee catcher, although he prefers the word rescuer, and he's been busy. this is the 50th swarm he's been called out to this year alone. >> it's been a few years since we've had good nectar sources, and that really dictates that we're having healthy bee populations. >> reporter: and that's good news for the millions of plants and flowers that need pollinating. the bee col

nbc bay area's damian trujillo broke the story on twitter and explains what police have learned so far. >> reporter: parents at hoover middle school were stunned to hear that one of their children's classmates brought a loaded gun to school today. >> scary, you know? first thing, worry about the safety of the kids. >> guns everywhere you go. i don't know. you can't do anything about it. >> reporter: san jose police say it is unclear what the child's motive was for bringing the gun to school. they say there did not appear to be any imminent danger or a specific plan to shoot anyone, but they stress that simply bringing the gun to campus raises the possibility that something horrific could happen. >> i think any time there is a weapon involved, there's always the potential of something bad happening. >> reporter: the principal sent an email to parents saying there was an incident involving a student on campus that was resolved quickly and safely. the letter said the school day would proceed as normal, but did not directly reference a gun. it did say police would stay on campus for the re

. >> nbc bay area's damian trujillo is in los gatos with the details on this one. >> reporter: we reached out to vasona creek health care, the lawsuit claims richard died after eating contaminated food. >> he was brought to vasona creek health care for post surgery rehab. that was back in december of 2021. the lawsuit alleges the center gave trong a contaminated sandwich which they claim led to intestinal problems and seizures. trong ultimately died at good samaritan hospital. some family with patients inside the health care center today say the incident worries them a lot. >> the fact that there was tainted food that started this whole thing, the guy is laying there for who knows how long, choked and two nurses didn't know what to do, turn him on his side, set him up, whatever, that's, you know, i can't understand that part. they're supposed to be trained. >> reporter: others are not so concerned, and say they are happy with patient safety here. >> yeah. >> reporter: the suit alleges two nurses argued with each other about how to position trong's body when he was having seizures. good sa
