dan before i asked my last question. some people start to resent a world that they have become associated with. was there ever a time when you got a little irritated with that association? have you been good with it all along? >> i had to get used to it. it was something that happened. when you are in a movie like "forest gump" was so popular. i realize one month after i did the film, i got a call from the disabled american veterans. that is how i got involved. they wanted me to come to their international -- to their national convention. i was playing a vietnam veteran and they like the way i did it. it was a moving experience. it was something i will never forget, standing in a room with thousands of disabled veterans and having them applaud. those who could stand up for standing up. they were applauding before playing a disabled veteran. they all wanted to call me lieutenant dan. i started going overseas and do we tours for the troops and a related to me as this military member. the story of dan is a resilience story.

dan, what's gone wrong here? if you ask a million people on the streets of america right now, i reckon a million people would say, this was the wrong verdict. >> i think it's the difference between objective truth and a legal truth, to some degree. meaning that i think that these jurors had to survive this enormous burden, which is proof beyond a reasonable doubt. and apparently, they didn't think that that was survived. with that said, i have to say that these jurors do seem to have taken away something very different from this case than i think much of the public did. and that is, when you actually listen to everything that this woman just said, juror number three, what the alternate juror, number 14 has said, it sounds like they actually think that an accident may have been the cause of death, which i think is surprising, and i can't explain why their perception is so different than that of the public at large. >> i mean, a lot of people are going to feel pretty angry that casey anthony's going to walk out nex

dan, what do you make of it?just as he refused to cooperate with judge orie at all, constantly interrupting him, first of all asking if he could put his hat on, complaining about his health. and as judge orie mentioned several times he he was gesturing toward the gallery. and judge orie was constantly trying to get him to look at him as he addressed him and mladic didn't want to play ball at all. as he was trying to get down to the nitty-gritty of the pleas, he kept saying his two lawyers, one from serbia, one from russia that he had asked for -- the problem is he only had recently given the names relatively recently, and the registry which deals with running the court effectively hasn't had time to check out these lawyers to ensure that they're suitably well qualified, you know, if they have any running criminal convictions for example, if they're allowed to represent him. and that was consistently pointed out. he just didn't want to hear it alt all. and in the end he was forcibly removed from the chamber. we co

>> reporter: dan, good evening from kenya. and as you know, we've been reporting all week, on that long, perilous journey from somalia, to the refugee camps in kenya. for so many of those families, walking on foot, more than 100 miles, to get here. and what we discovered, that once they get to the camps, they're in for another excruciating wait. we pulled up shortly after daybreak. but could already see the line forming in the distance. refugees by the hundreds gathering in front of the large red gate, for the first food. we notice that emerging from the tinder dry desert, more families, finishing the punishing journey from somalia. a mother balancing all of her belongings and her baby, too. the camp has now swollen to 400,000 refugees, the population of cleveland, minneapolis. and not far off, fresh mounds of dirt. the nameless graves for the refugees that didn't survive. this mother just got here. we asked how long it's been since she and her children had anything to eat. six days. once they get through that gate, they wait

dan, this is such an extraordinary thing we've seen tonight. alleged victim of a sexual assault case going public in an interview before the trial. is that a good idea? >> reporter: if the criminal case is moving forward, it's a terrible idea. prosecutors would have begged a complaining witness like this, please don't do it. don't go public. don't put another statement on the record. at makes this different, of course, is thahathe prosecutor and the complaining witness in this case appear to be at odds. the prosecution has made it pretty clear that they have real questions about her credibility, and this is clearly an effort on her part to shame the prosecutors intotooving forward with the case. >> public pressure on the prosecutor. on the other hand, as you point out, if what she's told robin roberts conflicts at all with what she told the police, her employers, friends, that's a party on cross-examination. >> well, and the district attorney has already said that they think not only did she lie on her tax forms, not only did she lie on her asy
