i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. >> thanks for joining us. the earthquake was so powerful that, according to the u.s. geological survey, more than 1.3 million people live close enough to feel it. fortunately, there were no reports of deaths or serious injuries, but there were reports of damage like broken water mains windows and about 10,000 people in humboldt county were without power. that's according to state senator mike mcguire. >> so let's take a look at how this morning's events unfolded at 1044. that big earthquake hit off the coast of humboldt county, initially reported as a 6.0. the usgs revised the magnitude to 7.0. then, just five minutes later, at 10:49 a.m, the national weather service issued a tsunami warning stretching from the oregon border nearly down to santa cruz. the tsunami was predicted to hit san francisco at 12:10 p.m. people around the coastal areas of the bay area started evacuating and heading to higher ground. but at 11:54 a.m, the tsunami warning was canceled because big waves had not materialized. >> thankfully,
