you're close with dan akerson but what do you think of gm at this point? >> i own some gm. i know you always ask people on the show, do you own anything. i do own some of the stock in gm. i bought it after dan becames the ceo. he was a partner of carlisle for seven years before he went to gm. and i've known him 30 years. i think he's done a great job. i think gm has healed. it's 15 quarters of consecutive profit. i'm sure they still have a lot of other things to do. dan had a personal situation that made it so he had to leave. the recovery of gm is something that as americans we can all be proud of. >> one of the tail ends of dodd/frank regulation came out today, the volcker rule. it's been highly anticipated by a lot of banks but a lot of other companies have benefited. carlisle, other private equity firms include . what do you take away and how has it benefited you? >> i don't know that it has benefited us all that much. having more intelligent regulation will be a great move and hopefully we'll get that. one benefit, a small one that's come for carlisle, we're actually a

in fact, i just listened to what dan akerson had to say about her to troops today. he called her a car gal. she's also a stanford mba, so she's also a smart gal as well. look at the rest of the management team of gm. some of them are people that were in line for this job and didn't get it. but first of all, a guy who is highly respected in the new non-executive chairman of gm is a guy named, they call him tim, his name is theodore, he's the former chairman and ceo of cummins engine. he was named one of the top five ceos of the past decade along with the likes of steve jobs and jeff beltway sos. dan aman is the new president of gm. this is a job that didn't exist before. he has been the chief financial officer for the company, former investment banker with morgan stanley, and mark royce who was also in line, he has now got mary barra's new job which is to develop product that he loves. who's on the occupants? really only one -- on the outs? that's only one person, close confidant of jeff ackerson's. and i would add today the stock has not even taken a burp, cheryl. a

gm's current ceo dan akerson and the next to take the wheel mary barra making an announcement at the national press club in d.c. and phil lebeau has been following the news from chicago. >> as we speak, tyler, dan akerson is finally outlining an investment that general motors announced within the last hour. this is a big one. gm investing $1.3 billion in five plants around the united states. these plants are primarily the engine plants and supplies or components to their engines. they're going to be adding about 300 new jobs at those plants and a lot of people always say you hear about these job announcements, how many jobs have they really brought back since bottoming out during bankruptcy in 2009. back then, u.s. jobs totaled 7,000, that's hourly and salary. added more than 11,000 since then, now almost 88,000 work for gm in the u.s. by the way, their sales this year up 8.8%. just a little above where the industry is for the year, 8.4%. but the market share and a lot of people will be watching this, it is now down to 17.9%. that is a low if they were to end this year, i'm not sure
