i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm carolyn johnson. the san jose construction site is now ground zero for human remains. crews unearthed what is believed to be a cemetery for the county's poorest buried from 1875 to 1935 at what is now the site of the santa clara valley medical center. lisa amin is there now with more on what it means? >> it was an accidental discovery. valley medical center is expanding its campus. when construction crews started digging, they found the coffin. these are photos of pine boxes, thought to be the coffins of santa clara county's poor and indigent in the late 1800's. you can see the outline of the boxes buried beneath the earth and in the middle of valley medical center's construction site. >> i think it is surprising. nobody realized that that cemetery was there. >> the county is now rushing to figure out how to handle this troubling discovery. these county blueprints show a cemetery existed off what is now ginger lane in 1932. then 20 years later -- >> there is a parking lot in 1915 that was there. >> it

i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm carolyn johnson.ose construction site is now ground zero for human remains. crews unearthed what is believed to be a cemetery for the county's poorest buried from 1875 to 1935 at what is now the site of the santa clara valley medical center. lisa amin is there now with more on what it means? >> it was an accidental discovery. valley medical center is expanding its campus. when construction crews started digging, they found the coffin. these are photos of pine boxes, thought to be the coffins of santa clara county's poor and indigent in the late 1800's. you can see the outline of the boxes buried beneath the earth and in the middle of valley medical center's construction site. >> i think it is surprising. nobody realized that that cemetery was there. >> the county is now rushing to figure out how to handle this troubling discovery. these county blueprints show a cemetery existed off what is now ginger lane in 1932. then 20 years later -- >> there is a parking lot in 1915 that was there. >> it was paved

i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm carolyn johnson. it is a developing story, and tonight we are hearing reports that the boy's father may have witnessed the beating. 14-year-old eddie reyes was beat. it is a place they call a known gang hangout. reyes was in eighth grade. nick? >> carolyn and dan, good evening. police are saying the death of a 14-year-old eighth grader is indeed gang-related. the school officials are calling it a loss to the community. >> he was attacked and severely beaten. >> cops are looking at any information into the beating death of an eighth grade student in east san jose. investigators say most of those who witnessed it left the scene before police arrived. 14-year-old reyes was transported to the hospital where he remained for the weekend. he would later die from his injuries. our media partner is reporting that as the boy was being beaten, the boy's father stood nearby, putting the boy in a fight for his life that ended tragically. >> we believe the case is gang motivated. it is an area known for a high leve
