i'm dan ashley. carolyn johnson has the night off. police say kaufman sexually abused one child andvideotaped . and they say he tried to kill himself when he was first arrested last summer. now she facing charges and no where to be found. thomas roman is live in san >> dan, they are searching fo searching for him. kaufman allegedly molested one of those children last year, but he wasn't charged pending further investigation. now the investigation ended and the contra costa county district attorney's office charged him with three felony and three misd involvin involving the two boys. they also issued a warrant for his arrest. 52-year-old joel kaufman is seen here with a traveling high school club that often plays college teams. kaufman coached two bay area high school baseball teams in the past. he owns triple play batting cages in san leandro. police investigators came in looking for kaufman who is wanted on a $300,000 arrest warrant. parents we spoke to were stunned that the owner of this business is wanted by police. >> it is surpri

dan ashley has the night off. >> i'm carolyn johnson. that woman is expected to survive. officers say they had no open fe again. this all happened next to the aladen expressway. this is the third police shooting in san jose this month raising questions tonight about police tactics. abc7 news reporter thomas roman is there for us. thomas? >> carolyn, anytime a police officer shoots someone, the police department takes it seriously. that's why san jose police are still working this crime scene. they have also closed off almaden road between willow glen way and willow road. goinvestigation has been going on for the past six and the evidence technicians poured over the road. from sky 7hd we can see the red honda that was involved in the shooting incident in the driveway of a home. san jose police spokesman says officers were checking out reports of a stolen car seen in the neighborhood. >> when the officers approached the vehicle, the driver immediately reversed the vehicle and pulled forward and striking the officer. >> that's when the officers made a split-second decision.

. >> i'm dan ashley. it is disgusting to watch, and it must have been so terrifying to experience.akland police are looking for more victims, and we found one. alan wang is live in oakland tonight with her story. alan? >> a terrifying attack against the woman, but she is one of several people who was terrorized by those on the video. she is asking the victims to come forward. the woman in the video has no idea she is being targeted by two young men who don't realize they are being caught on camera. the robber stole the purse in east oakland, but they were exposed by surveillance cameras and police arrested them. police don't think she was the only victim. >> investigators released the video in hopes that there might be other victims out there who have not come forward yet. >> we went to the same block and found a woman who said her purse was stolen and was pistol whipped the same day and same hour as the woman in the video. >> i said don't kill me. don't hurt me. >> we showed her the video of the suspect. >> looked like him. look like it is him. i'm sure it is him. >> the woman rep

here is dan ashley, our news anchor. >> visions of past pi days from the explore storm, the hand's on museum with the idea of the day born 25 years ago. >> march 14th is 3/14, the first three numbers of pi. it starts with 3.14 and goes on forever and pi has been around forever since the ancient time but now part of a math movement, and it is the birthday of albert einstein and observed in classes around the country and congress voted to make it official. a business owner is the prince of pi, leading a pi procession including the first 125 markers that circle the shrine embedded in the center of the explore storm. the explore storm is moving. so a new pi tradition will start. last year at the end of pi date the shrine was carefully placed in an appropriate storage container. this is the exploritorium brand new building on the san francisco waterfront that does not open until next month. on pi day, the shrine will be placed right here a few steps from the embarcardero. a critical part of the celebration has been eating pie. there will be a few celebration at 1:00 o'clock p.m. outside th

dan ashley has the night off. let's get straight to abc7 news meteorologist sandhya patel with a look at live doppler 7hd. >> something we haven't seen in a longtime. live doppler hd is tracking a storm right now. it is slow to get here, but quickly moving through. i want to show you where it is raining. we have moderate rain falling in the north bay around a guyserville and highway 101 and you can see old redwood highway. we are seeing rain near highway 101. as we take to you other parts of the bay area, san francisco is getting some light rain. we were in a little bit of a break, but lake merced boulevard, daly city seeing some of the light rain. and it is stretching toward the peninsula and into the south bay. as you notice around the santa cruz mountains as well, the winds have been gusting at sfo and their 1 in mountain view. the higher elevations 58 to 66 mile an hour wind gusts. oakland out of the south at 33 miles an hour. you need to hang on tight. tomorrow morning when you head out the door give yourself

i'm dan ashley. carolyn johnson has the night off.olice say kaufman sexually abused one child and videotaped another. and they say he tried to kill himself when he was first arrested last summer. now she facing charges and no where to be found. thomas roman is live in san >> dan, they are still searching for him. kaufman allegedly molested one of those children last year, but he wasn't charged pending further investigation. now the investigation ended and the contra costa county district attorney's office charged him with three felony and three misdemeanor counts involving the two boys. they also issued a warrant for his arrest. 52-year-old joel kaufman is seen here with a traveling high school club that often plays college teams. kaufman coached two bay area high school baseball teams in the past. he owns triple play batting cages in san leandro. police investigators came in looking for kaufman who is wanted on a $300,000 arrest warrant. parents we spoke to were stunned that the owner of this business is wanted by police. >> it is su

i'm ama dates in for dan ashley. >> and i'm carolyn johnson.nvestigators are trying to figure out why the big cat attacked. the victim is 24-year-old diana hanson, a volunteer intern working at project survivals cat haven sanctuary about 45 miles east of freesy no. al -- east of fresno. alan wang has more. >> cat haven is a place for a lot of retired hollywood animals. they have 28 exotic cats on property including two lions. the largest is the one that killed the intern today. so far no one explained why diana hanson was in the enclosure with a 350-pound lion when it attacked and killed the volunteer intern. this is the lion. the founder of cat haven says they were unable to lower him away from the intern's body. >> the lion was shot and killed per our safety protocol. our thoughts and prayers went out to our friend and family in this trying time. >> reporter: he was a rare lion exstipg in the wild. -- extinct in the wild. they hand raised him as cub, but they removed him from the house because law prohibits physical contact with lions after t
