i'm dan ashley and i'm dion lim. >> images of that firestorm across los angeles county. simply devastating. >> so for the very latest, let's get to abc seven news anchor karina nova, who is tracking the fires and the battle for firefighters are raging. karina. >> dan, it's hard to capture the magnitude of the fire still burning in the los angeles area. firefighters are currently battling five fires. the biggest devastated the palisades area between santa monica and malibu. the deadliest is on the other side of los angeles, near pasadena. at least five people have died in the eaton fire. it began in the hills near pasadena, but the wind took the embers miles away into the urban core of altadena. it's burned more than 10,000 acres with no containment yet. officials now estimate 200 to 500 structures were destroyed so far. businesses along lake avenue have burned, including several restaurants, dry cleaners, a hardware store, and a senior center. >> it makes me really sad to see such a beautiful neighborhood just get taken away in an instant. my mom and i were here at 5:00

i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. >> thanks for joining us. new before and after pictures are capturing this wildfire disaster in a heartbreaking way. this aerial view of malibu beach shows only smoke and rubble left behind in a lot of these neighborhoods. >> the folks who live there also work in that neighborhood, which means they've lost their home and their livelihood. >> now the national guard has moved in to help with the wildfire response. more than 600 troops are on the ground right now, and hundreds more are standing by. >> in total, more than 35,000 acres have been destroyed. there were six fires and four of them continue to burn. the palisades and eden fires have driven the highest level of destruction. more than 12,000 structures have been damaged or completely decimated so far. >> let's take a live look from the skies of the devastation. actually, we zoom right in on those flames. fire crews nationwide have come in to help battle the flames. and really, just to save countless homes. 11 people are now confirmed dead, and authorities

i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. >> thanks for joining us on this special edition of abc seven news. let's get you caught up now on the very latest from the southern california wildfires. >> the newest fire is burning near oxnard in ventura county. this is being called the auto fire. it started around 8 p.m. an estimated 75 firefighters are battling these flames, both on the ground and in the air. now, the helicopter reporter for our sister station in los angeles says they have slowed the forward progress of the flames. this is burning in a riverbed, the santa clara river, near some golf courses. so the immediate area is not residential, but there is an evacuation order placed in place anyway. no structures are threatened. traffic on northbound 101 nearby is shut down with high winds tonight. these flames could spread quickly. >> all right, let's bring in the latest now on the weather forecast. meteorologist sandhya patel is here. with the current conditions and the red flag warning now in effect. sandhya. >> that's right. dan and ama, that area is under a red flag warning right now.

i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. >> thanks for joining us. contra costa county prosecutors are filing charges against mueller over a kidnaping for ransom that left the victim so afraid, they never told police. >> abc seven news reporter j.r. stone has been following this investigation for years and joins us live in studio tonight with the new details. j.r. >> dan, two charges were filed against mueller last week and now three this week. it's all new cases we're talking about. it's wild because mueller is already in prison for the vallejo case with denise huskins and aaron quinn. i still remember that night in 2015 when vallejo police called what happened in their city an orchestrated event and not a crime. they later apologized for that. mueller was arrested and convicted, and now he's linked to even more cases. 47 year old matthew mueller, who's currently serving a 40 year federal prison sentence for the 2015 kidnaping and rape of denise huskins in a case that started in vallejo, now faces three new kidnaping charges in contra costa county.
