we're live from port richmond, i'm dan cuellar for channel six "action news". >>> all right, thanks, dann. >>> off-duty police officer struck and killed a man with his vehicle this morning in west chester pike. it happened in east goshen township near chester hallow road at 6:15 a.m. investigators say the officer was on his way to work when it happen. he and a a bystander then tried to administer cpr but man didn't make it. police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call them, with information. >>> this fiery scene in west philadelphia, was the end result of two cars colliding this morning. the driver of one of these vehicles is alive tonight thanks to the bravery of a bystander. investigators say woman was driving the vehicle that was struck by a speeding suv at the the intersection of the 53rd and chestnut the streets just before 7:00 o'clock this morning. vehicle then burst into flames. unidentified man was then able to pull would the man from the car and drag her to safety. the flames then ripped the awning the of the grocery store setting it on fire and forcing polic

live at camden county police, i'm dann cuellar. >> thank you, dan. philadelphia police looking for two men wanted for a home invasion in the lawn crest section. it happened at 7:45 in the 1300 block of hellerman street. the men entered through an open front door and threatened a husband and wife inside before getting away with a gun and $275. they left in a black jeep wrangler. the incident was captured on surveillance. the police do not know why the couple was targeted. >>> a vision attack outside a public library in a community has police on high alert. the man was in the library parking lot and was severely beaten by two assailants and left there. we have more tonight. >> reporter: the search is on right now for two suspects police say brutally beat a man just outside of this library yesterday evening. for the mostly quiet city, news of what happened was met with shock and disbelief. >> it's really surprising. stuff like that never happens around here. like i said, i grew up around here. really unusual. >> reporter: around 7:30 monday evening, a 3

cuellar. tell us what happened, dan. >> reporter: well, jim, police remain on the scene here in the park at rittenhouse square gathering evidence. they have dispatched a couple of k-9s to assist in this highly unusual crime here in the park. what we know is this, police say at 9:30 two men armed with handguns were attempting to rob a group of four or five people in the park. that's when a 39-year-old man riding his bike noticed who was going on, got off his bike and tried to stop the robbery. the gunman turned around and shot him multiple times. people in the park tell me at first they thought the shots were fireworks. then realized they were gunshots and ran for cover. >> we were sitting in parking. bang, bang, bang. >> people were screaming gunshots. we got up from our table and jumped behind the wall. >> people were running out of the of the park. it was chaos. people just running like crazy away from what are it was. >> reporter. >> reporter: police say the gunmen fled. police scattered for safety. they carried the 39-year-old into a police van and rushed him to the hospital. here's more. >> so thi
