dan ashley. >> i'm carolyn johnson. hall at van ness and grove where this all happened. >> take a look over my shoulder. you can see there are seven lanes of traffic. police tell me a man was crossing this busy section of van ness avenue when he was struck and killed by a driver that had no time to react. this was the scene of an accident of a man crossing van ness after 7:00 p.m. san francisco police with the collision investigation unit tell abc news the victim was a 38-year-old man. witnesses told investigators the vehicle tim had been in some sort of verbal altercation with another man earlier. but police tell us they do not believe that played a role in the victim's death. what they do know is that the victim started on the west side of van ness avenue and attempted to cross the busy street at least twice before stoping on the center median. >> w >> when trying to go from the center median to the eastside they made it across two lanes and then was struck in the far right hand lane. >> the victim was hit by only one
