joining us is satori fund founder dan niles. it's good to talk to you.u're very transparent on twitter about what you're doing because it sounds like you were buying yesterday, ight, going net long? >> yeah. well, the day before yesterday we went ahead and covered most of our shorts. and our feeling was, if you go back through our posts, we thought oil was probably peaking out. we thought that would drive yields lower. that environment where you've gotten such oversold conditions in different sectors, not all of them, we thought that was a good opportunity. one of the sectors we bought a lot of was the russell 2000 type stocks. those were down 22% last year, down another 22% year-to-date this year. they don't have the same dollar exposure that the s&p 500 has or the magnificent seven. so, that's kind of what we're investing and going into earnings season. we're short-term bullish but make no mistake, we're long-term bearish because of the three bears we see on the horizon. that's how we're viewing things. >> just first on the short-term call, since you a

joining us is dan niles founder and senior portfolio manager at the sat tory fund.more time. i thought interest rates rising, that these were the most vulnerable. we now know multiple contraction might take the back seat to just chugging along with earnings. >> you're absolutely right. it comes down to stock prices are multiples times earnings. i think what's going to get tricky, though, is earnings season coming up. if you look at the magnificent seven and look at them compared to the overall stock market, you look at the russell 2000. it's about 20% of their revenues comes from outside the u.s. for the s&p 500, that number is closer to 30%. the magnificent seven is 53%. the reason that matters is the dollar has gone up about 6% since mid july which is when most of these companies guided. that's a pretty big headwind to the fourth quarter guidance or looking into next year. then on top of that, actually, oil going up impacts some of them as well. that's, to your point, joe, i think earnings, that's where actually majority of this risk lies as you think about q4 and
