north korean leader. liz? liz: thank you, edward. let's get reaction from the "wall street journal" dan henninger. dan, headlines crossing now and misquoting the president. president said i think i'm very well prepared. i don't think i have to prepare very much. media at nbc and cnn taking the second part of that. your reaction to the criticism there? >> i think the criticism is overstate. secretary pompeo said the president has been briefed. i think in large part, what the summit in singapore is about is president trump meeting face-to-face with kim jong-un and trying to size him up as somebody that whether we can do business with him. i mean, let's face it, liz, the only person in the all of north korea that is going to negotiate this deal is one guy, the dictator, kim jong-un, and i think the president has to try to figure out whether he is a serious person and whether he is serious. he's got to get a feel for the man. i believe that's exactly what the point of this summit is, and the president said there will be more meetings, if he concludes he can do business with kim jong-un. liz: dan, what

of all this, he said north korea should be looking to the governments of outh korea and japan for that. haidi: how more these sanctions could impact. joining us on the line is danipal and global financial sanctions leader. how much in your notes, nine rounds of sanctions since 2006. we have been here before although not with a u.s. sitting president. how much are you tempering? >> it's a bit of grouped hog day of people who spent years. there have been attempts to try and push north korea towards having a deal on the table. but any sort of tangible movement in the poft steps will be the opening of a discussion because this is a regime that spent building up their nuclear weapons technology. haidi: i want to put out this ick chart how we had is some exuberance and if this is successful conversation and business opportunities going to the north, this is a chart showing the erm industries have and surging while the kospi that came up after kim said in the second meeting that key infrastructure in the north needs updeprading. are investors getting ahead of themselves and that you actually see a pent-up flow of business coming through? >> investors are getting ahead

kirby, dan with the "washington post" and margaret talia with bloomberg. kim got and gave nothing, because everything in that document north korea has promised in previous agreements, in some of the previous agreements with a lot more specificity. but in defense of the president, he has a process now, and the leaders met and he says he has a face-to-face promise from kim which in his view makes it better than the pres agreements they walked away from. >> there is an argument here that now he's got him on the record of being committed. it is a new leader, so it's not his father. there is a little bit of a blank page here. he's got him on the record and they can move going forward, increasing sanctions, pulling back on sanctions if they need to. but it wasn't as low as what i think actually happened. there is no substance and nothing of what pompeo predicted as possible outcomes came to fruition. so it leaves everybody scratching their heads. >> and it leaves pompeo now with the hard task. all the details. >> he's always been the president's point person on this. he is going to be the nexus for the next meeting. it's not goi
