dan simon, live in sacramento to tell us more. hi, dan. >> reporter: hi, carol. what a scene you had here at the state capitol yesterday. a lot of anger and adrenaline on both sides. on one side, you had the white supremacy group, they had a permit to hold this rally. on the other side, you had counter protesters. just as the rally was set to begin, you had the group of counter protesters that numbersed in the hundreds. the people on the white supremacy side, also joined by skinheads, well, as the group of counter protestered encircled, all hell broke lose. ten people suffered stab wounds, two people taken to the hospital in critical condition. everyone is expected to survive. carol, we should tell you that the leader of this group, you talked about it, the traditi traditionalist worker's party, they came armed with knives because they received threats on social media. usually when you have situation like this, when tempers are flaring on both side, police do their best to keep the two sides apart. that did not happen in this case. everything is under investigat

joining me now with more on this is dan simon. the details are not escaping people.to know so much about this case they are combing through documents. the internet is on fire with these kinds of revelations. and what effect is that having out on the street? >> well, first of all, let me explain where i am. we are in front of the city jail where brock turner is serving that six month jail time. it is basically your standard jail allowed two visitors a week. we talked about that letter. what is clear for reading it is that he does not admit that a sexual assault took place. that is one of the reasons why there is so much anger especially on the stanford campus where i spent a lot of time talking to students. they feel that it is a miscarriage of justice. they are glad to see that the victim's statement is getting the national attention that it has but they are really upset about this. here is a sampling of what we heard. >> i was really disgusted because there are witnesses and we are so proud that we are able to witness it and stop it. yet there wasn't enough justice.
