snow, will it help long term? earlier today i spoke to an expert, dr. dan mcevoy in reno.t everybody's hopes up, this doesn't mean we're out of the drought, we're just beginning the season for measuring snowpack. >> that's right. it took about two years to dig ourselves into this hole, so we had two dry years in a row. and we're really not going to get out of it just by a couple storms. we're early in the winter. we have our core rainy and cold and snowy months ahead of us. january, february and march. and so we really need the storms to continue. so the sierra is, for, currently about 150, 200% of average for the date, but only about 50 to 60% of the peak snowpack that occurs later in march or april, so until we get to that, those peak values, we need to keep the storms coming. so we can keep building that snowpack and have enough runoff once we get into the spring and summer. >> so how many more big storms do we need to get out of the drought? or get out of drought status? >> well, it's hard to say a number of storms, but ideally, we would like to see a continuation of a
