dan malloy asking people today to avoid the dmv. >> yeah, while most people expect to wait in line at the dmv, today some people waited more than four hours. eyewitness news reporter marcus solis posting this picture on the long lines on his twitter page and joining us now from norwalk with the story. marcus? >> reporter: well, dave and liz, the doors to the dmv closed at 4:00. but inside, there's still dozens of people close to 100 people. they were here at 4:00 when it closed so they will -- the office will stay open until the transactions are completed. now officials had predicted long lines today. but this might have exceeded their worst fears and agonizingly slow process that's playing out statewide. now the reason for all of this connecticut's dmv branches partially shut down last week in order to upgrade their computer systems. ironically the more services available online, things that could spare drivers a the dmv but there are certain things can only be done in person. and so today on the first day back, people came in droves and had to wait. we spoke with some people who spent six, seven hours here. registering vehicles seems to be the slowest transaction. the one th

dan, 7:57. our top stories, a major street in brooklyn is shut down while workers repair a broken water main. >> eyewitness news reporter marcus solis is live in prospect heights where work crews have been on the scene all night. marcus. >>reporter: rob and michelle, going on 12 hours now here on flatbush avenue, and you can see the repair work continuing as they try and get to that pipe that has been affected at st. marx avenue and flatbush avenue, but the closure extends beyond that. now, last night around 8:15 is when that pipe burst, and it is a 12-inch main they are trying to get at. the delay in getting that repair started was because of stray voltage detected by con- edson, so they had to wait it. it was feared the water may affect the subway lines and tunnels down below. that has not happened. as we come back live, we can see from prospect street to atlantic avenue remains closed, traffic concerns as the repairs continues. there is still no eta as those marcus solis, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you so much. >>> federal aviation officials are investigating two close calls between a drone and planes near jfk airport. t
