nbc, dana griffin is back again with that story. dana, why, why now? why are we seeing this?ng so many increases in prices from groceries, to everyday items that you need. and right now, gas is being added to that list. it is not just the fact that production has been cut. it is also because of this record breaking heat that we have experienced. right now, the average for a gallon of gas is $3.75. that is 16 cents higher than last week. although, cheaper than a year ago which was at $4.23. and 20 cents higher than we were at last month. so, experts say it's because of the cuts that have occurred to oil production. it is also the heat. refineries are not built to withstand 100 plus degrees temperatures for several days in a row. so, it is not making people have to choose between whether they need to pay for gas or other necessities. including one woman who had to make a tough decision. listen. >> i had to take money out of groceries to make sure i have gas to get to the store. so, it's like a lose lose situation basically. >> you are going to look and say i was here last week,
