joining me now are dana milbank and clarence page. thank you both for being here. >> thank you, reverend. >> clarence is it smart for the president to frame health care as a moral issue? >> i think it's smart. it's also a subtle shift in tactics. or shift in argument. in the past he's put more of the emphasis on cost and cost savings and general coverage. now he's talking about the very fact that this is part of the social contract. he's almost saying it would be un-american to oppose the idea of health care for everybody. he's going back to making a hundred-year argument going back to 1912 at least when teddy roosevelt promised the need for health coverage across the country and the progressive movement at that time was pushing for it. of course harry truman lbj. you can go right up to the present day and look at various presidents trying to get what president obama has been able to achieve with the affordable care act. this is a historical argument he's making saying this gets right to the very core of our being as a people in this

let me bring in dana milbank. , again, i think that it is the beginning of another denial movement like the birthers. we can't argue numbers. you're talking about millions of actual people. >> yeah reverend. it's not like 10 million is some sort of a rounding error or something here. it is unusual because you had not heard people disputing that. they'd say all kinds of things about costs of the program, but to actually say that it hasn't done what nobody had previously denied it had done now we're in different territories here. overall you're finding that we're in this sort of silly season right now as everybody is waiting for the supreme court to make its ruling to decide what -- after that to decide what's going to happen if the supreme court strikes down -- >> i want to ask you about that because you just wrote about the supreme court ruling that could take away health care subsidies for millions of people in fact. you said quote, if the supreme court doesn't validate key parts of obama care it seems highly lily

who else would i want to talk to about this than political strategist angela ryan and dana milbank milbank's official. dana how long and how much noise will donald make? >> i thought you were going to say how long have i been waiting for this. i was going to tell you my whole life. for someone who covers absurdity in politics this is a very big day. there's 9 billion reasons to take donald trump seriously and that's wa he tells the world his net worth is. money is everything in politics reverend. it's not just getting in the debates and shaking those up. he can spend a lot of money on ads. he can be there in the early primary states. he can really shakepe the debate here. he has nothing to lose. one suspect he's in it for a lark to gain more publicity for himself. but his motive really doesn't matter. and you're absolutely correct. they're all going to have to contend with him. and it does make the serious candidates have to deal with this circus atmosphere because now the guy, president obama called a carnival barker is indeed going to be right there on the dance floor. >> and angela it i
