[inaudible] >> -- members of the command staff, chief scott, director henderson. i'm commander lozar of the community engagement division. this evening, i'm going to briefly present to you, make the annual presentation on the limited . >> the manner in which interpretation services are provided, so by department interpreters, bilingual members who were not certified as bilingual members, 762. and then, bilingual certified members, 413. the method in which we delivered limited english proficiency services by telephone, 5,374, that's by using our language line or in person, 4,456 mainly by department members, and then, oral interpretations at public meetings, five. in terms of complaints from the department of police accountability over that fiscal year reporting period, we had a number of seven. that was broken-down into five sustained, two not sustained. in terms of our department language access complaints, we're doing a lot of work around policy, around training, around how we deliv

i would like to welcome the presenter, captain troy dangerfield from the san francisco police department. >> first of all, thank you for letting me address the council. i'm captain troy dangerfield from the san francisco police department. >> captain, can you put the microphone closer to your mouth? >> how is that? >> good. >> one of the things i've had the privilege of doing for a last several years is working on the language access working group. we've come a long ways with that. and just recently i was brought on to the deaf and hard-of-hearing working group because they are getting ready to do training and making videos and things like that. and they've been working on a general order. it's a real collaboration. and language access and this kind of fit together. so it makes perfect sense for me to be involved. and it's all about making new policies that fit, that everyone can live with. so this general order is in the draft stage and it is coming along quite well. chief scott himself sits in on those meetings and those working groups so he can make immediate decisions, so we don't ha

i think commander lozar, captain troy dangerfield -- of course zamira keeps us moving in the right direction, having the women at far, the sf domestic violence committee, just so committed to meeting once a month and committed to bringing new ideas at the table but also ideas that we've been trying to move forward and the goals that the work group have had are coming to -- coming to fruition, and they are. some of the things i think, just the support for bilingual staff, and i know i've talked to the chief and he's heard me before, i really want to raise the status of the bilingual officers. that life saving skill is so important. we would love to see their status raised in the community, more about their successes, domest domestic violence work, trafficking work. so we would love to just see them really raised up in the community. we really also are just enjoying working with the new langl language liaison, p.j. carr. she's awesome. so you know, this work is slow, but it is moving in the right direction, and the community is counting on us because having that bilingual understanding, certif
