dani: it is.the fact that they are beating but they are beating to a near historical degree. the majority of companies so far are beating more than they are delivering misses. on average, companies and the stoxx 600 reporting earnings 40% higher than what analysts had expected. the strange thing is that even though that's a very healthy figure, the beats are good, shares have only moved on average .3% in europe after reporting earnings. the stoxx 600 is flat so far this week. what exactly is happening? a lot it has to do with expectations being so high. for example, if you look at earnings revisions, heading into this quarter, we saw a spate of analysts upgrading earnings forecasts. just before they start reporting, we were at a record high for revisions. despite that, they are still beating, but this just shows you that the bar is so high. people expected earnings to blow it out of the water this quarter. anna: earnings looking healthy. what are companies doing with all the cash they have on hand
