daniel is a 55-year-old former news reporter. he talked with a group of survivors known as hibakusha in tokyo. daniel decided to come to japan after he got to know a family of an atomic bomb victim two years ago in the united states. during the meeting, they said they are determined to keep on talking about their experiences so no one else will have to endure what they've gone through. >> translator: it's been 67 years since the terrible incident. the atomic bombing only lasted for a few seconds, but my suffering will continue until i die. >> translator: the u.s. president said he will make efforts to bring an end to all nuclear weapons. so from now on, we, the hibakusha, are looking forward to our new and better world. >> daniel said he appreciated the opportunity to meet the survivors. he said he's more hopeful about the future after the talks. >> i hope that i can do the same to work to hopefully rid the world of nuclear weapons. >> daniel will attend the memorial services on august 6th in hiroshima and nagasaki three days lat

a sign says "pray for daniel" and sits outside perry hall high school. he was shot in the cafeteria on monday. students say he has down syndrome and was well known and light at the school. >> he is the sweetest thing ever, such a sweetheart, always happy and smiling. it is a shame. >> daniel was the only person hit when bobby gladden open fire. the school was evacuated and sent students home. they returned on tuesday to start the school year again. >> it is scary. i know there is going to be more security here and everything. >> i am not really scared, because the threat is gone. i just think today is going to be more of getting back into the gist of just going to school. >> parents we spoke to were concerned about their children returning today. something that students should of had the day off because of the violence. >> crying all day because she was in the cafeteria. i think she should have been given a day off. >> it is it kind of scary. i am kind of scared to send her back, but what else am i going to do? i'm going to be on pins and needles all day
