. >> danita cohen is with the medical center in las vegas where some are being treated. i know you a level i trauma center. what is going on in that trauma center right now? >> we have the only level i trauma center in nevada. now, 104 patients have come to us this evening. 30-plus patients went to the trauma center side. more went to the emergency department. the emergency department is separate from our level i trauma center. we are self-contained. within those four walls, we have three operating room suites. any testing that we need to do, a full blood bank, mri, c.t. scan, everything we need to take care of life-threatening injuries. and we've been extremely busy with critically ill patients this evening. >> talk to me about some of the wounds you're seeing, danita. >> mostly gunshot wounds. some folks got, you know, pushed over in the crowd. but for the most part, because we are a trauma center, it was gunshot wounds we were seeing tonight. >> danita, you mentioned you have three operating rooms. and we we spoke, you said they were just being used continuously. >> w

danita, thank you for taking time with us right now.the situation at your hospital right now. >> hi, good morning, george. so far overnight we received 104 patients, about 30 of those patients came in to our level one trauma center. we are the only level one trauma center in the state. many more patients came through our emergency dertpa did receiv all the patients we received, unfortunately, four passed away. eight patients went straight to the operating rooms. and the good news is many patients have already been discharged at this early hour. >> already discharged, that is good news. and you're one of the major trauma centers in the las vegas area. how many other hospitals do you know are receiving patients right now? >> this is an interesting health care market in las vegas. we have between 10 and 12 hospitals, most do have emergency departments. we're the only level one trauma center. there are some other trauma centers, level two and a level three. i am of the understanding that all hospitals received patients, although i can't con

thank you so much. >>> as speaking with danita about the priorities and what it is like to be in the middle of this. what is it like to be a doctor in the middle, i don't know how else to describe it, mayhem. joining me now a doctor who has faced something like this. dr. parker an emergency and trauma surgeon at st. mark's hospital in salt lake city, utah. doctor, thank you so much for coming in. can you take me inside, inside your trauma center when i mean likely maybe have not seen 527 trauma victims coming in through your doors but when you see this number of patients just flooding in, what it's like to be a doctor in the middle of all of that? >> yeah. first, i worked at a level one trauma center in detroit for a long time and we saw not 500 patients at one time, but we have mass casualties. a lot, most level one and level two trauma centers train for these mass casualties on a regular basis, even now active shooter scenarios. you know, obviously, it is a little bit foreign when you have a lot of patients coming in like this but it is a big team effort and the team, you know, tra

danita cohen, thank you for your time. we know how you are taking special care for all those there after the shooting last night on the las vegas strip. i want to bring back clint, i know it is still so early, but for the police who went in and to the point you made that certainly appeared to be a suicide mission, where do they go from here? what do they try to investigate? jim? >> well, they are going right for his house. you know, he's 64, we don't know if he's really going to have a big social media footprint, stephanie. it may be pretty small. but he will have a computer, he will have googled a lot of things. he probably does have some personal papers. he could have had some writings. could have had some musics on his computer. he could have handwritten material at home. they will want to look at all that stuff. and they will want to look at the telephone calls, who is he in contact with, who is he telling anything to? you know, they will try to piece his mind back together through all the little things. of course, it'
