danny cevallos is a legal analyst for nbc news and msnbc.n spending a lot of times covering political cases, this is not one of those. this is a fraud case, a criminal case. what does it mean when a corporation pleads guilty to a charge of criminal fraud? >> it's a lot different than when a human pleads guilty to corporate fraud, or any other kind of fraud. in reality, in many ways, which corporations plead guilty or are found guilty in federal court, it looks more like an accelerated civil case with the government as a plaintiff that's than the victims -- themselves. after all, you can't put a corporation in prison, and prison time is usually the most important consequence of a federal conviction, with the vast majority of federal convictions resulting in prison time. you don't do that to a corporation. so, in essence, because most of these end of in guilty pleas, they end up with corporations paying massive civil fines, which inure to the benefit of the government, and the corporation does what the government thinking is best for safety. y

we can get more now from our transport reporter in hong kong, danny lee.ctly is expected to happen today with these ev tariffs. danny: the european union's provisional tariffs on chinese imports of electric vehicles will take effect for today. just at what price point that these will be increased to still remains to be seen. we have seen the setting out of provisional tariffs already from last month, but we have already seen a little bit of a tweak to these tariffs according to people familiar with the matter. today, from the commission, we expect to see formal publication of the tariffs and whether we see any changes or may be no tariffs at all, that would be a surprise. but, what we will see later on today will be really fascinating to watch. in the meantime, we've still got some month to up until november before these tariffs will fully kick in as much as money changing hands and duty being paid to the authorities in europe. until then, as well, you've got brussels and beijing in talks to try to come back from the precipice of really tense tariff tensio

cnn's danny freeman is outside the gunman's bethel park home with more on the investigation danny tell us about a police photo that captured the shooter just about 30 minutes before shots rang out yeah. >> brianna, i want to really take our viewers through each of these new photos that we're able to obtain from our cnn affiliate w p xi here in the pittsburgh area it's to get an understanding of like you said, what may have been leading up to this shooting. so the first photo is of thomas matthew crooks. that's our suspect here. and it was taken by local law enforcement, accorded wpxi before the shooting happen, like you said, potentially about at least 30 minutes or so before. now, this photo was taken specifically in reaction to something that we've been discussing that local law enforcement spotted crooks being a little bit suspicious near the metal detectors. and specifically because he had one of these rangefinder devices kind of looks like a pair of binoculars and is used to tell the distance between two points. often used by hunters are other marksman. then we have another photo

so danny, what have you learned about the gunman here in these past moments? >> well, erin, i'll start with the newest information that we just received from a briefing that the fbi conducted in the past hour or so, we're talking about thomas matthew crooks is the twenty-year-old suspect who is accused of the attempted assassination of former president donald trump, according to the fbi, we now know that they believe that he acted alone. and the fbi also believes that there's no indication of mental health issues with mr. crooks we also have learned in the past hour that part of this investigation is the fbi has actually gotten access to thomas crooks, is phone, but at this point, they don't have access to the information inside the phone and they have shipped it to quantico according to the fbi, the fbi headquarters, to try and figure out how to get inside and the other thing, erin, that perhaps is surprising, but the fbi said it on this briefing, is that they have not at this point identified any sort of ideology that would give clues to a gun and the big qu

joining us now, danny cevallos, a defense attorney, also msnbc legal analyst. great to see you.e actually mean for this case, and this is kind of something we have been hearing over and over again by people like meadows and others, right? >> removal is a tactical maneuver and it happens 99% of the time in civil cases. most attorneys who remove have been involved in civil cases but rare if ever involved in a federal officer removal. so it is a strategic move, and it could dramatically affect the outcome of this case. and while meadows speaks of the immunity decision by the supreme court, this filing is really about challenging the removal and getting a second bite of the apple at trying to get this case as a defendant out of state court in georgia and up to federal district court in georgia where presumably he will find a better audience for his immunity and other arguments. >> danny, he's asked for this already, hasn't he? >> he has. his argument is essentially now that the supreme court has come out with its immunity decision, the court spoke at length about the fact that defen
