joining us is our legal analyst, danny cevallos.hanks for getting up earlier than usual for us this morning. let's start with bannon. how strong is this case? how do you see it play out? >> it was strong enough that it was a federal case before. he was pardoned before the case ever went to trial, so there isn't any bar to the state authorities bringing charges for essentially the same conduct. and so we've kind of gotten a preview from his prior federal case, even though he was pardoned, and in general the theme is rather an historically common one, somebody starts a charity, somebody collects money to the charity, too much of the money goes into the collector's own pockets, that's really the essence of these charges. steve bannon may argue in defense, there were other people involved, i wasn't the main person, i didn't make any of these promises, i was just lending a helping hand to a charity that i thought was doing good. that's what i expect we'll see as the defense. and bannon has publicly made it clear he intends to fight this.

for more, i want to bring in legal analyst danny cevallos. this is one of many cases we've seen circling the latest president. how is this one fundamentally different? >> it's fundamentally different because of the extent of the factual allegations, and you could argue, the receipts, the documents that the new york attorney general has obtained, even though we haven't seen them in this complaint, we know they're out there, and in order to make these applications to insurance companies, for mortgages, for loans, there has to be documentary evidence. it's additionally significant, because no matter what, whether or not the trumps come to the table to settle this case, they can't unring the bell in that the facts have been handed over, the federal prosecutors and the irs may and are likely to initiate their own investigation and possibly criminal charges. >> all right. danny, good to have you here. thank you. >>> at the united nations, joe biden delivered a condemnation of russia's president vladamir putin and the war in ukraine hours after puti
