danny meyers joins us now at the table. welcome. >> thank you. proof do you want, and how do you confirm that the proof they're giving you is legit? >> there are definitely cards the cdc has provided to show proof of vaccination, and there is also digital proof as well. clear has a wonderful app called health pass, which anybody can get for free. in new york state we have excelsior pass, and we'll take a look at all of those. >> you intend to police this very carefully, checking ids to see that the card actually belongs to that person? >> the most important thing to check is our staff. we care so deeply. we have a pretty sacred responsibility to make sure it's safe to work in our restaurants. keep in mind when you dine in a restaurant, you cannot wear a mask while you're eating and drinking. and our staff members don't have a choice but to serve you. so if our staff members are with you for two, two and a half hours, i want to make sure, first of all, that they're safe, and we're going to do everything we can, obviously, to make sure those people

danny meyer runs a chain of the biggest restaurants in new york and david burke said we are on boardith this. we want our staff and guests. brian: why didn't he make that decision for himself? ainsley: it's his restaurant. ainsley: there is a lady in brooklyn in bay ridge. she is the manager of a restaurant there and she said the city is segregating people. she said this reminds her of the civil rights movement. she says just replace the words vaccinated and unvaccinated to black and white or muslim and catholic or gay or heterosexual. listen to her. brian: yeah. >> to me, it's segregation. we are trampling on civil liberties. we are discriminating against people. the mayor of new york essentially just locked out tourists. he has locked out families. he is telling people who have not been vaccinated that they don't belong. they are not allowed to roam freely in society that they don't count, essentially. i mean, i can't believe that we have created two new classes. ainsley: look at the sign in the window it says we do not discriminate. steve: it's going to go into effect tomorrow. th

meyers. legal analyst danny cevallos as well. let me start with you. i guess that's the real question here. is he going to face state or federal charges because the allegations outlined by the attorney general and laws that have been passed, including new ones that were signed into law in the state of new york by governor cuomo would indicate he could be in serious legal jeopardy here. where do things stand? >> the attorney general, chuck, said this for now is a civil matter and her investigation concludes it is a civil matter as far as her office is concerned. ann clark who helped head up the independent review said this is now a public report, all the evidence and information is out there, including text message screen grabs from one of the victims, charlotte bennett. that's out there and available if any police department or prosecutorial office wants to look at it. i have been asking around to various district attorney offices, so far they're not commenting publicly whether or not they'll pick it up from an investigation standpoint on the state level, whether that would be criminal. fro
