michelle miller spoke with danny's mother and father, dina and bob parmertor today, and andy's older brother dominic. they told michele that they wanted a chance to talk about danny. when the parmetors sat down for the interview they were wearing danny's clothes. mrs. parmertor is a nurse and she says she heard about the shooting while driving home from the night shift. >> i turned on the radio, and they were talking about it, i had a sick feeling in my stomach, i didn't know why. and i did, i really did, and i was scared for him, i don't know why, and i just tried to call him. nothing. he didn't answer. and i left a message, "danny, it's mom, call me back." there was a call and it had danny's picture on it on my cell phone so, i thought oh, he's calling me. it was commotion and it was some fire chief or something, i don't know. and he said danny is being life- flighted to metro hospital right now. you have to go to metro, i said i want to talk to him. i want to talk to him. >> ( sobbing ): they were still doing c.p.r. on him. they had tubes down his throat. it was bloody. i told him,

russell was declared brain dead and is one of two fatally injured in the shooting. 16-year-old danny parmertor died yesterday shortly after the shooting. the others remain in hospital ". i have been knowing danny six years. to find out that he has passed on, don't know how to handle it. >> the alleged gunman, 17-year- old t.j. lane, is in solitary confinement while he awaits his first court appearance this afternoon. the sophomore tens an alternative high school and was waiting for the bus when he allegedly opened fire in the cafeteria. >> we are still looking for the why, what, and who. we now are dealing with a community looking to heal. >> investigators are looking to see if there were warning signs. >> if there's anything we need to know about this young man and that would include questioning his friends, questioning his family members. >> his family issued a statement through their lawyer offering condolences, calling the shooting devastating. the lawyer says that his client is remorseful. >> this is a very scary circumstance that i don't think he could have possibly foreseen himself. in

student danny parmertor succumbed to his gunshot wounds yesterday after a young man open fired in the high school cafeteria. >> he had no emotion on his face. he was just shooting. >> reporter: this afternoon, t.j. lane, the aone accused of the shooting, appeared in court wearing a bullet-proof vest. lane rode a bus from the high school to an alternative school each morning with several others who waited in the cafeteria. >> everybody left him alone and didn't talk to him. nobody really bullied him. >> reporter: but lane did come from a troubled family. his parents were divorced and his father had numerous run-ins with the law. >> we never made any jokes at t.j. because we always figured he has a worse life than us. >> reporter: still, those who knew him can't explain the rampage he is accused of. >> i don't think he was bad enough to kill people. i really -- i never would have guessed. >> reporter: while multiple law enforcement agencies continue to investigate, the people who live here simply want to know why. >> we're not just any old place, chardon. this is every place. as you've

of course, 16-year-old danny parmertor is one and russell king junior and demetrius and the two othersjured but notkilled in the shootings only 48 hours ago here in the community of chardon. you know, it's been 48 hours if you can believe it since all this took place. this community certainly will never be the same. i want to talk about the suspect in all this. prosecutors say 17-year-old it can j. lane in fact -- t.j. lane will remain in police custody. charges will have to be made by thursday. about 24 hours from now the prosecutor said that lane did indeed admit to the shooting and he said it had nothing to do with any bullying rather mental illness. so, still waiting for a lot of details and motive behind all this. and as to why this happened and waiting for this over the coming days and i am sure we will be learning morep back to you guys. >> you know, before we let you go, there was a report earlier that lane could be staying in prison for or in jail rather up to 15 days. now he could be be released after that? is that accurate or procedural?>> reporter: you know i am not certain

danny parmertor, 16. russell king, jr., 17. demetrius hewlen, 16. the teenager accused of this horror, t.j. lane, was brought to the courthouse wearing a bulletproof vest. where the judge ordered him to remain in custody for his safety and that of the community. >> detention is necessary due to the serious nature of the allegations and charges. >> reporter: in court lane appeared close to tears and was heard saying to family members i am sorry, i'm sorry. authorities say lane confessed to the shootings and while they have not talked about the motive behind this rampage, the prosecutor did offer insight. >> he chose his victims at random. this was not about bullying. this is not about drugs. this is someone who's not well. >> reporter: while one victim remains in the hospital, this community did receive some much needed good news. 18-year-old joy rickers, also shot, has returned home to her family. her survival first responders say thanks in part to fellow student travis carver who delivered first aid moments after shots rang out. >> it was instinct.

parmertor died from his injuries. in a statement his family said we are shocked by this senseless tragedy. dannyas a bright young boy who had a bright future ahead of him. the shooter lived with his grandparents after his parents divorced. he took a bus every day to the vocational school from chardon high. a spokesman said the family is devastat devastated. >> by all accounts t.j. is a fairly quiet and good kid. pretty much sticks to himself but has some friends and has never been in trouble. >> reporter: for this small community outside cleveland it's almost too much to bear. how are you coping? >> i'm not. it's a nightmare waiting to wake up from. not going to happen. i hope nobody ever has to experience this. i feel this way. i can't imagine what the parents feel like now. >> reporter: i would imagine it went through your mind how close you came. >> i wish i was there. i would rather take the bullet. they had the biggest hearts. they would do anything for anybody. everybody misses everybody. >> reporter: t.j. lane will be arraigned this afternoon in juvenile court. he's reportedly in solitary
