live in san francisco, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> a danville teenager is fighting for his life following an accident at a beach in santa cruz. ktvu's jade hernandez has more on what happened and how the community is pulling together to offer support. >> reporter: that's right. creek side community is a christian church with about 200 families. later tonight here in alamo another vigil is scheduled for ryan buchanan. family and friends are praying for him. they gathered at creek side last night to talk about what happened on saturday. the kids were on their annual camping trip this weekend sponsored by the church. and about 60 teenagers and adults were in santa cruz enjoying the sun and surf when the six foot deep tunnel ryan buchanan was digging collapsed on top of him trapping him for 15 minutes. now the focus is on ryan whose doctors removed sand from his airway. all friends can do now is relive the horror and comfort one another. a danville teenager was in critical condition after a sand tunnel collapsed on them during the outing. it happened at sunset state beach in watsonville. the unidentified 17-year-old was buried head first in six feet of sand for about 15 minutes before lifeguards could dig him out. an air ambulance rushed him to valley medical center in san jose. >>> the mother of a young man arrested for refusing to pull up his pants on board a u.s. airways flight spoke at jones methodist church in san francisco today. donna doyle talked about the incident in which her 20-year-old son was arrested after he did not immediately pull up his pants as flight attendants requested. the naacp called u.s. airway's actions racist, and they are asking the airline to apologize. doyle also criticized the sheriff deputies who got physical with marmon while escorting him off the plane. >> look at oscar grant where they tased and shot that boy or whatever they did. i have my son and i am here to speak. i give praise to god about that. >> u.s. airways releaseded a response to the naacp comment saying marmon was arrest

. >>> a prayer vigil is set for tonight in honor of the danville teenager in critical condition after a sand tunnel collapsed on top of him. ryan buchanan and another friend were digging in the sand during a church group's visit to sunset state beach on saturday when that tunnel collapsed. he was trapped under the sand for 15 minutes, unable to breathe. when lifeguards and church members finally pulled him out, the hole the boy and his friend re digging was about six-feet deep. the other boy wasn't hurt. the church has set up a facebook page for buchanan where they plan on nightly prayers for the near future. he remains unconscious and is in critical condition. >>> bay area congresswoman lynn woolsly is retiring. the democrat from sonoma county making it official today, saying she will not run for re-election in 2012 after serving ten terms in congress. democratic leader nancy pelosi released a statement thanking woolsly for her nearly 20 years of leadership and service and praising her as an advocate for bringing troops home safely from war. woolsly's retirement is no surprise. she h
