showers already in danville just a few minutes ago.at rainfall on and off throughout the morning. likely to pick up. right through the middle of the morning here. looks like into the afternoon. tapering off to more showers. our high-def doppler radar is picking up on the activity now. scattered showers around the bay area, more bands beginning to move in the north bay. this one that's been causing the rainfall sliding into danville a little further to the south now into hayward, as well. so we are going to see this picking up throughout the morning hours and very cold air sliding in, too. the possibility of snow down to 2,000 feet maybe one to five inches in the north bay mountains. cold and breezy this afternoon with showers the possibility of thunderstorms and unsettleled weather pattern after that. it looks like this low really carving out along the west coast bringing all that cold air right in from the gulf of alaska. so that snow is down to 2,000 feet, wet breezy for today. dress warmly. temperatures below staying cold, as well.

a house on fire outside danville. kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is on the scene in the diablo neighborhood with more. what can you tell us? >> >> reporter: that thankfully, the homeowner and his wife are okay. the fire department has it under control. they got a call around 4:45 this morning. the resident in the home tells me that he and his wife woke up in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke and then they walked to the kitchen window and saw tons of it from the outside. he and his wife got out safely. they called the fire department and were able to respond within a few minutes. they got the fire under control. when i spoke with san ramon valley fire, the biggest concern is because it's a small apartment above a garage they were not able to get as many firefighters inside to fight it but they fought it from the outside. at this point, it is still early in the investigation and they don't know the cause. but right now it's all about mopping it up. the last time i spoke with the battalion chief he said they w
