investigator say they found him living in diablo, near danville. the arrest today involved a number of law enforcement agencies, including the u.s. marshal service, danville police, and the quincy, massachusetts police department. an inmate with a violent past has escaped a jail south of gilroy. the san benito county sheriff's department says daniel lopez zavala climbed over a barbed wire fence at the correctional facility in hollister around two this morning. deputies have yet to track him down. he was last seen wearing a brown jail shirt, orange pants and black shoes. his criminal record includes felony gun charges and child abuse charges. anyone who sees zavala should immediately call 911. the san francisco district attorney's office has a new director of its victim services division, mayor london breed and other city leaders announced. ivy lee has been appointed to the role. she's a civil rights attorney and was previously a legislative aide. the victim services division, or vsd, is in charge of supporting and educating crime victims about thei

in the case early this year after new information revealed lee was possibly living in diablo near danville. he was taken into custody today by u.s. marshals and by police. no word on how soon lee could be extradited back to massachusetts. >>> the man convicted of attacking paul pelosi with a hammer has been sentenced again to 30 years in prison. david depape had to be resentenced after a mistake during the first sentencing when the judge didn't give depape the chance to make a statement. he made one today, apologizing for assaulting paul pelosi, the husband of the former house speaker. in 2022 depape broke into pelosi's home. depape's son spoke following his father's resentencing. >> the previous sentencing, he wasn't able to make a statement of remorse. despite his statement of remorse, they still gave him the absolute maximum sentencing, which i think a lifetime sentence is quite harsh. >> depape's federal case wraps up, he still faces trial in state court. a hearing in the case is scheduled for tomorrow. >>> some people in antioch are worried about losing an important transit option. th

after 16 years, investigators in massachusetts found information lee was in diablo just east of danville, massachusetts. investigators traveled here to the bay area this morning and lee was taken into custody. in the north bay. police and sandra fell are warning residents after a series of incidents involving people impersonating federal agents. police say the impersonators are targeting pedestrians and people sitting in their cars. they walk up to the victims, identified themselves as federal agents and asked to see the victims wallets. that's when they steal the wallet or any cash. police want to remind you a law enforcement officer will never demand someone turn over their entire wallet. purse or cash. san francisco's health department is encouraging people to get their m-pox vaccinations ahead of the summer. >> it recommends the 2 dose vaccination, especially for the lgbtq community ahead of pride saying that those folks are likely to be most affected right now. health officials say they're not seeing a rise in m-pox cases in san francisco, but they say the virus continues to circula

these pictures from us marshals showing the moment he was taken into custody with the help of danville police. in a statement, the u.s. marshals say they hope his arrest brings closure to the victim's family. david depape, the man convicted of plotting to kidnap former house speaker nancy pelosi and attacking her husband with a hammer, has now been recentered for his crimes. a court error during the first sentencing made today's hearing necessary. and as nbc bay area's sergio quintana reports, that hearing also included an apology for the attack. reporter. for the second time this month, david depape was sentenced on federal charges related to a brutal attack on paul pelosi, the husband of the former speaker of the house. the hearing was triggered by a mistake in the first sentencing back on may 17th. u.s. district judge jacqueline scott corley did not give depape an opportunity to speak at today's hearing. she apologized for that error, taking full responsibility and vacated that sentence. she also allowed depape to talk, and he took the opportunity to apologize to the man he attacked
